Ratings: Seven network wins summer ratings week, Nine tops primary channel and TEN takes two demos.

In another week where Sport and News dominated the ratings all three commercial networks found cause to smile.

Seven network won the week in Total People, but Nine took the primary channel, meaning multichannels pushed the former over the line.

Nine also won 25-54 demo but TEN won 16-39 and 18-49.

Nine’s One Day Cricket (Game 1 Session 2: 1.07m) was the week’s top ranking title. Best for Seven was Seven News (Sun: 965,000), with Big Bash League (Game 27: 666,000) on TEN, ABC News (Sun: 836,000)for ABC, and Secrets of the Solar System (309,000) best for SBS ONE.

Seven took Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Nine won Monday and Friday. TEN beat Nine on Wednesday. ABC bettered TEN on Friday and Saturday.

Seven ranked first in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Nine won Sydney and Melbourne.

There are three more weeks before the ratings season gets underway.

  1. A good result for the networks, their PR flacks will be over-the-moon. There will be more that hot chocolate flowing today. However, it makes life difficult for media buyers and advertisers, their money (ours) gets spread even more thinly. The real game starts in Feb and the real test in March. Game on!
