TEN hints at I’m a Celebrity cast

After denials they were struggling to cast their new Reality show, TEN drops some hints to fuel the fires.

2015-01-11_1520TEN has dropped some clues as to its cast for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

Amongst the clues of those participating are: a world famous television actress who is an international household name, an AFL Hall of Fame superstar, a four-time Olympian, a legendary Test cricketer, an international model, a fashion icon, a hot young comedian, kid’s TV star, Gold Logie nominee, TV Royalty.

The 10 celebrities will be revealed in the first episode but media is already speculating that cricketer Andrew Symonds, comedian Joel Creasey and Melissa Joan Hart to be amongst the celebs.  Former Today Hollywood correspondent Richard Reid has denied he is headed to Africa.

The hints come following denials by the network last week that it was having trouble casting the series. A number of faces including Sophie Monk, Shane Warne, Blake Garvey and Ros Reines have declined $60,000 a week offers (and Warne’s was a pile more).

While TEN will need to stump up with some big names, it’s worth noting the UK series has always included lesser known celebs in the mix as a way of reigniting careers and embedding an element of surprise. The Aussie series is co-produced by Peter Abbott who was behind the original Big Brother series.

Hosted by Julia Morris and Chris Brown TEN also confirms the show will begin from early February live, five nights a week from South Africa. Viewers will decide “who eats, who plays and who stays.”

  1. @Bogues: I reckon Ten may have to air this program live in QLD at least.

There has been a major backlash against Big Bash being delayed up here, and Ten’s seriously (mind the pun) going to need a massive PR boost in QLD to prevent social media in Queensland going ape on night one of “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here”: much like it has been for most of the Big Bash… which could be a big detriment to Ten’s hopes for it to succeed.

  2. What a farce this show is already. Original advertising said it was to be filmed in and around Kruger Park. Well this is not jungle and there is no Kruger connection, people can not even walk around in Kruger. It’s being filmed 75klm away on a nature reserve, not in the jungle at all, where activities include swimming and hiking, not what you do in a game reserve full of the African animals shown in the ads. I certainly hope there will not be any wildlife interference for the sake of this idiotic entertainment.

  3. mark holden would be interesting out there in a jungle. Dicko would go to an opening of a postage stamp. He;d sign up for anything.

this show has me intrigued and I think julia morris will make it funny. but its very brave to sign up to a show where you are in an african jungle. I guess thats out of most peoples comfort zones.

  4. I think this is going to be a good show despite all this stuff happening it’s good to see Ten putting themselves out there atm trying new things and expermenting… I can see Ten slowly climbing back up.

  5. Didn’t Andrew Symonds say he wouldn’t be in the country when the show was on and that country he would be in wasn’t in Africa?

Think he said something like that the other night when the commentators were quizzing him in one of the Big Bash games.

  6. “Four-time Olympian” just screams Steven Bradbury to me.
As a fan of the UK version I have to admit to looking forward to this, I just hope they get some entertaining “celebrities” for it.
Apparently Laurina from the Bachelor is another one rumoured to be on this show. I’m not sure which of the categories above she fits though: TV royalty? Fashion icon?

  7. The promos for this during the Big Bash have started to lose all meaning, such has been the repetition and complete lack of detail.

A smart channel would have been using this big audience to build interest, not to leave us bored and aggravated.

  8. @GMPetrie I am pretty sure they did broadcast the UK version a few years back, it wasn’t the first of the series but Halfway through , for some reason I remember it being on Eleven.

  9. So, I’m thinking as pure guesses for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’:

Greg Matthews / Greg Blewett / Steve Waugh
    Adam Richard
    Sandra Sully
    James Mathison
    Denise Drysdale
    Warrick Capper
    Ian Dicko Dickson
    Stefan Dennis
    Glenn Robbins
    Liz Ellis / Andrew Gaze
    Danny Green
Kyle Sandilands (if we get the option to let him stay there!!)
    Jackie Weaver
    Charli Robinson, and…
    surely not – Bert Newton!!!

  10. Live all the way to the QLD and SA borders. Shane Warne isn’t the first name that springs to mind when I think of celebrities who make smart decisions but that’s exactly what he’s done by avoiding this. At least DWTS can point to its longevity as the reason why none of its contestants are actually “stars”.

A D-class program with D-list celebrities aimed at the D demographic grade. I’m a discerning viewer – get me out of watching Ten.

  11. Live, if you live in Sydney, Melbourne, Tassie or the ACT.

Asking viewers to watch five nights a week is going to be a big ask. Two nights I might put up with, five probably not.

Especially considering it is going up The Block and MKR, I assume. Like it or not, these are the two powerhouse shows for Nine and Seven at the beginning of the year.
