  1. @tvaddict, I believe Anne’s (Deirdre’s) on-screen former husband William Roache (Ken Barlow) holds the record. He was in the first episode of Corrie in 1960, and still is.

  2. i have never heard of this actress & have only watched the show occasionally when on 7Two, but kudos to anyone who can stick at doing a Tv soapie for 42 years! (is that a record?) i’m sure she will leave a big gap in the Corrie family.

  3. I was shocked and saddened to hear this news. I’ve watched her all my life. Deirdre was so funny and it seems that Annie was so well loved by the cast. They cancelled filming for the day yesterday which is unheard of in coronation street so she must have been very special

  4. So sad and I was so shocked when I heard this news yesterday, especially following the flurry of reports on Monday about her future on Corrie. Anne was, is and always will be a legend. RIP.
