1.72m as MKR remains undefeated

Ratings: More than the competition combined, Seven's cooking show remains unassailable.

2015-02-18_1007My Kitchen Rules scored its second highest episode so far this year with 1.72m viewers last night, more than the combined totals of The Block and TEN’s simulcast of I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here! on two channels.

It is yet to move from #1 on any night it has aired and looks set to continue its long reign. However in its second week How to Get Away with Murder dropped 286,000 viewers in Overnight data, second in its slot.

Seven network won with 32.7% then Nine 27.8%, TEN 18.5%, ABC 15.4% and SBS 5.6%.

Next for Seven was Seven News (953,000 / 916,000), Home and Away (882,000), How to Get Away with Murder (800,000) and Million Dollar Minute (456,000). Grey’s Anatomy was 313,000 and Scandal was 118,000.

Nine News (1.05m / 975,000) led Nine’s night followed by Big Bang Theory (956,000 / 695,000 / 560,000), A Current Affair (912,000), The Block (779,000), Hot Seat (548,000) and 2 Broke Girls (324,000).

The Project was 572,000 / 437,000 on TEN, TEN Eyewitness News was 556,000, NCIS was 511,000 and NCIS: LA was 414,000 / 244,000.

ABC News (845,000) was best for ABC then 7:30 (683,000), Catalyst (672,000), Fake or Fortune? (443,000), Antiques Roadshow (299,000) and My Last Summer (209,000).

On SBS ONE it was Who Do You Think You Are? (310,000), Insight (252,000), Dateline (230,000) and SBS World News (130,000).

GEM’s Agatha Christie’s Marple (241,000) was best on multichannels.

The Morning Show: 136,000 / 75,000
Mornings: 130,000
Studio 10: 66,000 / 33,000

  3. Good Game replaces one scoring system with another scoring systems and that’s meant to be a big difference to the show, right.
    While I’m at it, how’d Good Game do?

  5. These late and’ not time sure’ starts are effecting programs. NCISand other shows are feeling it. Who ever says they make no difference or don’t matter need the sack.

  6. TEN have mostly held on to those 8.30(ish) starts over the last few years. But I can see NCIS is being impacted by that. Maybe it’s a case of can’t beat them, join them and have it start at 8.40

  7. What makes MKR so popular even in its millionth season? And what made Masterchef die after like 4 seasons? What is MKR able to keep the audience but masterchef not?

    Gotta feel for TEN here.

  8. I don’t want to be littering this website like an MKR supporter but there seems to be a lot of MKR haters at the moment – tall poppy syndrome maybe? It may not be an ‘intellectual’ program as some aristocrats were hoping for but just be proud that it is an Aussie production and it is creating jobs. Someone even accused Australians of being brainwashed – I think that is a bit extreme. I also love I’m A Celebrity on Ten and wished that it could have done better in the ratings. But I am not a fan of The Block but wouldn’t be bashing it almost every day with the same criticism. My motto is ‘agree to disagree’.

    2. I think a lot of us would like to see a more competitive ratings tussle, and we are probably exerting our frustration on MKR. I dont like MKR, but those ratings are well deserved considering the lacklustre competition right now.

      1. Well said alvar. To add though, I think much of the negativity is audience response to the two hosts. How can I put this….Hamish and Andy, sorry, I find their sort of self-indulgent look-at-us humour really high-school but I recognise there was a time in Aussie culture…80’s/90’s perhaps most particularly.. where that type of humour was de rigeur. But these days, when that sort of humour is ten a penny on Twitter and YouTube, the audience is far less appreciative. In some ways, I think ya gotta love Manu etc etc but the sort of humour, the exchanges, the feigned or real arguments, the…… it’s very predictable. But, it is the best of the lot right now for other reasons. If something else came along that was not a rehash and actually had a production that seriously delimited all the feigned issues, it may push MKR to work a little harder.

  11. Big difference between Murder and the first season of Revenge in 2012. Obviously the late starting times have had a big impact on ratings. Also wouldn’t be surprised if it goes the same way as Scandal, being a heavily serialised fast paced drama.
