ABC News Sydney presenter Juanita Phillips will read news from Sunday – Thursdays from tomorrow.

Jeremy Fernandez will host on Friday and Saturdays as a result.

ABC TV News Editor Tim Ayliffe said: “The extended 40-minute ABC News Sunday format has proven to be very successful for us over the past seven months and has provided a place for ABC News to spend more time explaining the big stories of the day and broadcasting special reports and investigations as part of our long tradition of original journalism.”

Throughout March, ABC News Sunday will have expert and comprehensive coverage of the NSW Election campaign, including interviews and analysis of the key policy differences.

This Sunday, NSW Treasurer Andrew Constance and Shadow Treasurer, Michael Daley will join Juanita Phillips in the studio to debate the economic future of NSW.

During the NSW Election campaign, ABC News Sunday will also be hosting a series of special broadcasts from around the state, including Newcastle, Lismore and Parramatta.

As always, ABC News Sunday will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of the day’s stories and breaking news, drawing from the ABC’s unmatched local and international network of journalists.

  1. Don’t forget we are talking about the ABC.

It really is just another department in the Public Service.

As a result, they simply act and behave as Public Servants do with no regard to the ‘real’ world!

  2. NSW Stateline would have been a better vehicle for the upcoming NSW Election instead of squeezing in snippits into an already busy News bulletin. Current affairs and comment piences should not be mixed in with what should be a straight news bulletin.
There remains no reason as to why 7.30 should should be state based Monday to Friday.
The reporting crew are still on staff, the studio crew are still on staff. Get the state based newsreaders to present it!
And speaking of presenters, why does Leigh Sales only present 4 days a week, pretending there is no 7.30 program on a Friday?
