FOX Sports announces new Formula One broadcasting deal

Every practice, qualifying and race, Live and in HD until 2019 on FOX Sports.

2015-02-13_1115FOX Sports has confirmed its new broadcast rights for the Formula One, securing every session of the Calendar -including the Australian Grand Prix in 2015- until 2019.

The deal includes an affiliate agreement with Murdoch-controlled SKY Sports UK to simulcast its Formula One coverage and commentary.

FOX Sports will broadcast all 20 events in the FIA Formula One World Championship Race Calendar Live and in High Definition – including every practice, qualifying and race – a first for Australian viewers, beginning with the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 12.

Network TEN will simulcast 10 races live, including the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. The remainder will be shown as one-hour highlight packages on Monday nights.

FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “This is a monumental deal for F1 fans and is in line with our V8 Supercars and MotoGP arrangements, bringing Australian viewers through FOX Sports on Foxtel Live coverage of every practice, qualifying and Championship Race from this season.

“On top of this, we have reached an extraordinary affiliate agreement with SKY to deliver through FOX Sports the same incredible Formula 1 coverage which is provided by SKY Sports in the UK.

“With Live coverage of every F1 event joining V8 Supercars and MotoGP on FOX Sports in 2015, fans will see the very best motorsport in the world, all Live and in High Definition.

In 2015, FOX Sports has more Live motorsport than anywhere else, with Live and High Definition coverage of:
• Formula 1 – every practice, all qualifying sessions, and every FIA Formula One World Championship Race
• V8 Supercars – every practice, all qualifying sessions, and every V8 Supercars Championship Race
• MotoGP – all qualifying practices, practice sessions and all MotoGP World Championship Races, plus Moto2 & Moto3 categories
• FIM Superbike World Championship – Exclusively Live coverage
• NASCAR – Every race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR XFinity Series, and NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series
• World Rally Championship – Exclusive coverage
• Verizon IndyCar Series – Exclusively Live coverage
Live access to FOX Sports’ complete Formula 1 offering will also be available to Foxtel sports subscribers on Foxtel Go and Foxtel Play. FOX Sports is available to Foxtel sports subscribers.

  1. Less than $14 a week to watch exceptional coverage of F1, and all the other stuff that is available including NRL, AFL, V8’s, NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, The Flash all in HD plus news from a range of countries, a weather channel, Seinfeld every night, etc etc, . Seems fair to me.

    It is a shame more sports don’t go to this model – looking at you Dave Smith! All games should be live in HD for those who chose to pay and then a few games a week in SD, filled with ads and cross promotion for the toilet block and other reality rubbish for those who choose not to.

  3. Think you need a more current F1 pic David 🙂

    Little disappointed we now have to pay for what we got free and live on TEN, yes we get more for our money but I’m not sure if I’d watch it all. I guess an upside is Foxtel is likely to show the full race several times during the week so plenty of time to catch up.
