No Pete & Manu sees MKR slip

Ratings: Without its duo judges MKR takes a dip, but retains #1 position on Thursday.

2015-02-20_1011No sign of Pete and Manu in My Kitchen Rules saw the Seven cooking show drop to its lowest figure so far this season, but retain its place at #1.

A third group of contestants drew 1.37m viewers last night, a drop of 335,000 viewers on Wednesday, and down from 1.49m the preceding Thursday.

But it was still well in front of the competition and remains a number the others can only dream of.

Meanwhile Hiding, Outback ER and Gogglebox also dipped from last week but Open House was up.

Seven network won the night with 35.0% then Nine 25.5%, ABC 17.5%, TEN 17.1% and SBS 4.9%.

Following MKR for Seven were Seven News (972,000 / 971,000), Home and Away (838,000), State of Affairs (566,000) and Million Dollar Minute (442,000). Autopsy was 286,000.

Nine News was 1.06 / 1.02m for Nine then A Current Affair (822,000), Open House (664,000), Hot Seat (605,000) and Inside Story (517,000). CSI was 320,000.

ABC News (861,000) was best for ABC then 7:30 (655,000), Outback ER (544,000), Hiding (429,000) and Louis Theroux’s LA Stories (339,000).

TEN Eyewitness News was 540,000 on TEN. The Project was 461,000 / 342,000, Gogglebox was 438,000 and SVU was 198,000.

On SBS ONE it was Gourmet Farmer Afloat (228,000), Heston’s Fantastical Foods (176,000), SBS World News (119,000) and Sons of Liberty (116,000).

7TWO’s Lewis (292,000) topped multichannels.

  1. Gogglebox was really good last night. Such a good series

Did anyone watch State of Affairs? What were your thoughts?

I enjoyed MKR with Colin, the teams last night look really interesting and better than the last batch.

  2. I think the Block have done a good job with the format of Open House this year. Heaps better than their “behind the scenes” stuff they were slapping together last year.

  3. I don’t see any need for the Im A Celebrity simulcast. The show seems to have stabilised, its clearly not a Biggest Loser/SYTYCD style disaster and the simulcast is now costing Ten third place for the night on several occasions. It just seems that Ten oversold advertisers on the ratings and are now trying to beef up the numbers.

Also pleased to see Seven airing more competitive content on Thursdays, even though I didn’t watch.

    1. I agree with Alvar. Ten would have been third for the night if they had kept the normal programming on One. And that goes for a number of nights over the past week and a half. MKR might have been down a little because people would not have expected it on Thursday night as so far it has been Sunday to Wednesday.

    2. It may not be as bad as TBL but it is a long way from being a hit especially given its productions costs will be enormous. I imagine 10 will once again have to compensate advertisers for missing the audience targets they promised.

  4. Hi David, I have noticed a couple of times that when I’m a Celebrity is the #1 show on 10 for the night, your short wrap up of the nights numbers doesn’t mention it?? Is there a reason for not acknowledging this show??

    1. Individual numbers for TEN simulcast shows are not supplied. This differs from other simulcast shows, such as Q&A or ABC News Breakfast, where the simulcast numbers are coded separately by ABC. However, they are still available in OzTAM ranking published under Ratings.

      1. Seems quite petty to ignore a program in the Daily Wrap just because it’s simulcast. Who cares if it’s on two or more channels, it’s still the same program.

        1. I’ve also noticed Celeb being left out of the wrap up for ten. It would be nice to see it mentioned as it’s still a good representation of numbers watching it and how it fared for the night.

          1. David I agree with you leaving Celebrity out of the daily ratings news wrap, or any other shows or networks that do the same thing. Don’t reward Ten by publicising the figures which are skewed higher due to being simulcast. They obviously don’t understand the meaning (or potential) of “multi channels”. The figures for one show might be up, but the figures for the overall network are down.

          2. Yup, completely agree with paultv. The numbers only have meaning if they’re comparing the same thing. If you want to know what the total number people was who watched a simulcasted program it’s on the daily ratings page.

          3. Correct. News section is editorial, so as it is frequently comparing how shows performed alongside one another it must be apples with apples, not apples with oranges. I have never included every show in every wrap, even in primetime. Ratings page is not editorial, so it lists OzTAM rankings without any editing.
