UK drama Last Tango In Halifax has been renewed for a fourth season.
BBC announced the news via Twitter.
Created by Sally Wainwright and featuring Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid, Nicola Walker, Sarah Lancashire, Tony Gardner, it centres around two widowers who, when their grandchildren put them on Facebook, rediscover feelings that are just as intense now as they were when they were teenagers.
In the UK the third series has drawn a consolidated audience of more than 7 million viewers.
HBO is also developing a US adaptation after Diane Keaton acquired the rights, but plans were put on hold some time ago.
Sarah Lancashire and Sally Wainwright have since joined forces for the much tougher Happy Valley.
Last Tango in Halifax has aired in Australia on ABC.

Nice it has been renewed…I am happy to wait until it gets to the ABC….
The ABC has shown the first 2 series, the 3rd finished airing the UK this week.
Last Tango in Halifax was one of the shows covered under the old deal, so BBC First presumably has first rights to it now. Though they haven’t announced it yet so not clear where it will end up.
Last Tango is all romantic comedy it contains some dark elements with alcoholism and contrasting poor rural area around Halifax with limited education and opportunities, teen pregnancies, spousal abuse and murder with upper middle class Yorkshire. Happy Valley set in the welfare areas of Halifax.
Have all 3 seasons been broadcast on ABC?
