Chef Shannon Bennett will join MasterChef Australia as regular guest mentor for Season 7, replacing Kylie Kwong from Season 6.

The change follows Programming Chief Beverley McGarvey telling TV Tonight, “Kylie is really important to the show so she’ll be there and there will be some other stuff around that we’ll announce shortly.”

Bennett, best known for his three-hatted fine dining restaurant Vue de monde has appeared as a guest chef across past seasons.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the MasterChef Australia family this year, working closely with the contestants as a mentor and alongside everyone’s favourite judges in Gary, Matt and George. I can’t wait to teach and inspire our top 24 contestants to learn and grow across the competition,” he said.

Judge Matt Preston added: “Shannon is one of the country’s most respected chefs, and yet one of the most down-to-earth and approachable blokes out there. Our contestants this season are lucky to have Shannon and his wealth of knowledge to help them on their way.”

TEN has confirmed MasterChef returns to our screens after Easter.

  1. A good move (though I also like Kylie a lot). I’ve watched every season of MC-AUS, MC-US and gave up after a couple of episodes of MC-UK and our version is by far the best reality cooking show out there. I gave up altogether on MKR this season but totally looking forward to MC.

  2. I don’t agree with that, Masterchef is full of drama too, crying and telling stories and more crying!!
When it comes to cooking only Masterchef Uk worth watching. Evan Masterchef Us are much better then the aussie version.

  3. Can’t wait for MasterChef to begin. Vastly superior to MKR as it is all about cooking skills and not the soap opera that dominates MKR. Shannon Bennett, a top masterchef, is a welcome addition to Australia’s best cooking competition TV show.
