31 Comments:

  1. ONE – 1.1% – I don’t think I have seen shares that low for ONE since it stopped being a 24 hour sports channel. This is what having one third of their prime time night being simulcasts does.

  2. Watched MKR on 7.
Recorded I’m a Celeb off 10 and watched it after MKR.

I am surprised by Gogglebox ratings figures – says something about the average viewer perhaps? 🙁

    • I’m surprised by it as well. Nearly 500K people watching, I thought it would go down in a screaming heap. Not sure how many watch it on Wednesday nights when it is on cable. It looks absolutely appalling from the ads I’ve seen for it.

  3. jezza the first original one

Gogglebox, last night, had many laugh out loud moments. My favourite was the reaction to Tom Cruise ‘kissing’ Kelly McGillis in TopGun….some of the comments were priceless

  4. Gogglebox really bagged channel 7 this week. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my life watching that story of Australia. I can just watch other people watching it

    • The Story of Us is very well made and is attempting to tell the story of our history. This is fairly niche viewing and would probably work much better on a cable channel like The History Channel. I suspect it is too highbrow for the sort of people being filmed for Gogglebox, who appear to be lowest common denominator types.

  5. bettestreep2008

simmo3 – I was one of those who thought Gogglebox would be a turkey but I tuned in to the first ep and confess that some bits are laugh out loud hilarious. Love it when the viewers rip into the politicians and the goddawful shows on air at the moment. What they said about Real Housewives and Story of us were hilarious.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy it – but I confess I did. Mind you I would never invite any of these people to my home.

    • Yeah, same here.
Wasn’t expecting much from Gogglebox but am really enjoying it – quite addictive telly.
Lots of laugh out loud moments throughout.
Helps that they’re talking about current shows that I have watched.
Yes, haven’t they given The Story Of Us an absolute bagging. Have to agree that it is tedious viewing.

Haven’t watched so many shows on Channel 10 for years – Celeb, Gogglebox, Shark Tank, Graham Norton and The Living Room.
Good to see them having a few modest wins for a change.

  6. bettestreep2008

JennyW – you make a valid point. Ten is saturating their main channel with ads for IACGMOOH and nothing for a show that is struggling in its 30th year.

Best Actor Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne has said that he watched Neighbours growing up and has admired the acting of Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne. Ten could have capitalised on this but haven’t.

Real shame cos the show is still quite good – despite the obvious budget problems they have compared to the flashier Home and Away.

  7. Poor Neighbours 🙁 Why isn’t Channel 10 promoting this show on the main channel? Come on! It’s the 30th anniversary. Seven and Nine promote shows on their multichannels. I don’t get why Ten doesn’t do the same for their multichannels.
