  1. @AndrewB I am a regular MKR watcher this year (previous years only a casual watcher). When it’s not on I’m out with friends or watch I’m a celebrity. Sometimes when it conflicts with other things I time shift on Plus7

  2. @David

Maybe ratings will lift when the 30th anniversary episodes start airing because that’s when Ten is airing the documentary which is good promo for Neighbours on Eleven.

  3. Ten should be encouraged by the fact that almost 700,000 are still engaged with I’m a Celebrity at the end of its first week. Big improvement on Loser/Dance last year.

  4. @Jengo

I think it’s because the show returned too early (5th January) and probably because most viewers were still on holidays at the time or didn’t know when it returned.

  5. @David Knox
I gave I’m a celebrity a go because during the big bash final ten did a promo showing dr Chris with a snake and the showed footage of animals. They haven’t really shown that from the eps I’ve seen. Maybe its a safety thing?

I would also like to see more landscape and something other than tucker trials. I can see how it will become repetitive.

I didn’t watch I’m a celeb yesterday cause of “the braxtons”. Drama trumps reality.

  6. I don’t think there is anything wrong with 600k or so in overall people when the show is in top 5 of demos.

Why say I’m a celeb will end up on ELEVEN?

It is though an interesting question where all those MKR viewers go when MKR not on – maybe they turn their TVs off, go shopping, go out, or entertain friends? Practice their cooking?

  7. Sons of Liberty was a great show. Great period piece with a good storyline with great historical characters. Pity people are not watching it and instead watching mindless reality tv.

  8. bettestreep2008

Ten should take advantage of the fact IACGMOOH was not recorded 3 months ago like MKR and The Block.

They have opportunities to tweek the show to get better ratings.

Less shots of them sleeping. This is what killed Big Brother Live Late at night. Some evenings it was just the housemates sleeping.

And they reportedly have 50 or so cameras – so how about more shots of the South African landscape?

And less of tucker trials and more physical challenges like Survivor.

And wouldn’t it be a hoot if the celeb intruders on Monday were bitchy ex-MKR contestants?

  9. Secret Squirrel

@DaveyBoy – the numbers for 7’s movie are the average of ~2 hours and beat CSI on 9. Grimm also crapped over CSI: NY. H&A was pipped by the Mitre 10 advert but it beat ACA by quite a bit.

@poida – “Hiding” is an apt title. The drama was hiding, as was the credibility. I won’t be surprised to see I’m Not a Celeb… beat it next week.

While I’m moaning about my free entertainment, Sons of Liberty was underwhelming. I’ll prob give it another crack next week.

  10. Watched Fatal Honeymoon Movie on 7 and recorded IACGMOOH off Ten.
Looks like the Block benefited a bit more with 7 not having MKR on but even Celebrity lifted a bit, so that is one night to have it on for sure. Still just challenges, as Merv said – get paid to sit around and do nothing almost. They urgently need some adventure tracking to add interest.
Also recorded Heston on SBS30 and watched it very late that night.

  11. I’m enjoying Im a Celeb, it’s silly fluff. One gripe I have is it looks like it could be anywhere in the world, why bother going to Africa if it feels like the Gold Coast? I have no doubts they are camping out in Sth Africa, But it would be good to see some overhead shots of the camp within the surrounding environment, ala Survivor. Then we would get a real sense that they really are in the great African outdoors. As filmed now it almost looks like it could be in a “jungle” theme park. Where are the leeches, bugs, mozzies, pelting rain, majestic sunsets, etc?

  12. Slight rise for I’m a Celeb. But what is going on with Neighbours? It has lost about 100k viewers since it returned which is 1/3rd of its viewers. Not looking good for its 30th yr Anniversary.
