i personally don’t have a problem with networks showing the same show on their Multi channels at the same time. It helps the show get more people watching it and hopefully they like what they see and return. i know that the network would possibly get a great share in percentages if they had alternate programs on as people who don’t like I’m a Celeb (for example) might turn off both 10 and Eleven and go over to Seven or Nine. However, i find it also okay that they combine both 10 and 11 viewers and put it out as one rating. It is in the end the entire amount of people that viewed the show.
However, since i don’t own a ratings box and neither does anyone else i know, i wonder how more popular 10 would be if everyone had a box. i know lots of people who watch 10 religiously but don’t have a box and their viewing can’t be counted….interesting!
Oh forgot to say we watched Winter after MKR and then I’m a Celb. DVR replay.
Winter was the best so far – going in the right direction I feel. 🙂
Neighbours is dead. Ten/ELEVEN need a new Aussie drama to replace it.
Watched MKR on 7. Recorded I’m a Celeb. off 10 and watched after MKR and enjoyed Merv on the tucker trail. Don’t blame Chrissie for refusing the Ostrich Anus or Parsons nose. Not even plucked properly – disgusting. I would have shoved it down Dr. Chris’s throat to see how he likes it. 🙁
It isn’t. I think I read that if the ratings were higher Ten would have to pay a lot more for it and besides there is an International audience, the show will still be here for a long time.
As usual the simulcast of Celeb on ONE are costing Ten at least 1% in shares – based on their overall share of 17.3% they’d be losing approx 5% of their audience by continuing the simulcast at 7.30 – at a time when multis do well as they offer alternatives for the growing number of viewers who don’t want to watch any of these 6-7 hours a week / 4-5 nights a week realities.
Ten would have to be happy though that both Celeb and FF regularly make top 5 in demos – although the drop from 1-5 in number of viewers in demos is quite large. Kind of suggest alot of younger viewers only watch 1 or 2 shows and nothing else on TV.
if the simulcast is working why drop it? I for one applaud Ten for trying something different and it seems to be working regardless. Ten are making a surge from last year and at least they are putting a dent in The Block and News at 6
What kind of dent is 3xchannels trailing 1? And how is it “working” when it sends the multichannel shares south because of a lack of alternative content?
William, you really need to take the blinkers off. The Ten network is not doing better than last year. They’re still regularly coming 4th behind the ABC.
The simulcast is only working to make the numbers for FF and I’m a… look better than they would be otherwise. However, it is making the overall shares for One and 11 look pathetic. Presumably Ten’s programmers feel that this is the lesser of two evils but I suspect that they have dug themselves into a bit of a hole that is causing long-term damage to the already sullied image.
Thank you!
Why does it take so long to get the overnight subscription figures?
Because they are sent to me later? As a free site I’d be surprised if mid morning was a deal breaker, but you can subscribe to OzTAM for a fee.
Well said – people expect too much from free sites imho. 🙂
Not looking good for Neighbours leading into their 30th anniversary special episodes.
Perhaps a simulcast on one or daytime replays on ten might help?
David – are those figures for IACGMOOH for Ten and One combined? If so then Ten would be deeply disappointed with the show.
I just think the biggest problem is the scheduling. Ten put it up against two ratings favourites.
I’m enjoying it – but 90 minutes plus 5 nights a week is a big ask.
Yes, Celebrity and Family Feud are simulcast numbers combined.
My question is to David…would ten be happy with celeberity figures? ITs only 100k less than the Block?
A simulcast usually suggests they are not, hence the reason for pushing it out on two channels.
I disagree, look at Family Feud and how well that is doing even with a 3 channel simulcast. Ten needs every viewer it can get and besides did Ten simulcast SYTYCDA and TBL last year? It means that they want the show to stay
I have not suggested they want the show to go. FF numbers are disappointing for 3 channels.
Really enjoyed “Winter” last night, great Ozzie drama cant wait for next week.
We enjoyed it too – great show. 🙂
Ending was good I thought.
