In another ominous sign Jeremy Clarkson staying with the BBC, the broadcaster has has cancelled a Top Gear Live event that was set to go ahead in Norway next week.

A spokesman apologised to fans and said the four shows would need to be rescheduled.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause fans and we will endeavour to contact all ticket holders directly to inform them of the change of dates. At present, all other Top Gear Live dates will run as scheduled.”

Telegraph reports a Top Gear Live insider insisted the decision to cancel the show had been taken because of the obvious uncertainty around Clarkson’s immediate future, and that producers had been given no indication as to whether he will be sacked.

So far there is no change to the Sydney event still scheduled in April.

Clarkson, who is paid a seven-figure salary to present Top Gear, has a separate seven-figure contract with BBC Worldwide to host the Top Gear Live events around the world.

Clarkson’s fate is expected to be announced this week.

  1. I think this has all been blown out of proportion and now more fans are paying the price, yes something happened but no contact was made. I’m not making excuses for bad behavior but the BBC put its self into this position months ago with the ‘final warning’, again over something out of Clarkson’s control, the number plate and the leaked footage.

I’m sure the BBC could have kept the lid on this if they wanted to for at least 3 weeks until they aired the S22 final. But it’s been made clear someone at the BBC has it in for JC.

Right now I very much doubt we’ll see any time soon the remaining segments they filmed months ago. Best bet is the BBC could release them on a DVD or online but it would be hypocritical to include anything with Clarkson in it.

If the show returns for a 23rd series they could use them then but personally I think Top Gear is for ever tainted by the…

  2. I think that whoever was responsible for handling food/drinks etc stuffed up Big Time. Its the basics of running a production…feed and water the army of co-workers and look after the key talent, yeah they maybe primadonnas (a lot of key talent can be) but their efforts pay everyone’s wages. It was a fracas or James may referred to it as ‘handbags’ which probably means some shoving/pushing and a bit of verbal. I think we need DK to go to the UK to provide live streaming updates!!!

  3. with bbc making this decision will hurt them alot in my opion , i want clackson to stay , just hope bbc make the right decision, if they sack clarkson they it will end top gear for sure.

    1. “The right decision” Guess that depends on which side you are looking at.

A lot of people only care about getting their Topgear fix and think he should be back asap.
Others think it’s about time he got treated like anyone else who punched a coworker would.

I’m somewhere in the middle, I love the show and would hate to see it end, but he can’t get away with that sort of thing either.
