Nine has pulled The Block spin-off Open House from Thursday nights, now set to air on Saturday afternoons.

The series had been airing on Thursday nights in The Block‘s timeslot, with former contestants making over homes, including some before auctions.

While it wasn’t due to air tomorrow night in Sydney and Brisbane due to NRL, viewers in other cities will now see King’s Cross ER instead.

A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight,Open House was designed as a spin-off to complement The Block. Unfortunately, it hasn’t performed to our expectations, but we are unwavering in our support for The Block.

A new episode of Open House will now air at 4pm Saturday.

  1. I would that thought Open House would have been worth trying in a Friday night slot against the other infotainment shows…4 PM Saturday makes me think of the adage concerning ” baby and “bathwater”….

  2. 7.30pm Thursday would be the perfect slot to permanently have new Big Bang Theory. Nine dont seem to have a permanent place for this in the schedule and the ratings are disappointing in the later slot. Thursdays would complement The Footy Show at 8.30 and it won’t be interrupted by reality shows that typically air earlier in the week.

  3. They’ll probably go back to the editing suite now and pad out all block episodes for the week to make another episode for Thursday’s from next week.

  4. I always thought while watching this show that it was such a Friday or Saturday show….now it’s where it belongs

Need to fill that Thursday slot with another Block show with original content, lest it lead to broken viewing habits
