CMC Music Awards: 2015: winners

Spoiler: The 5th Annual CMC Music Awards 2015 were held last night but won't air on CMC until next week.

SPOILER: Last night The 5th Annual CMC Music Awards 2015 were held for the first time at Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane, hosted by Morgan Evans.

The event does not broadcast until next week on CMC but here are the results from a press release.

Superstar Adam Brand’s position as one of Australia’s leading country music artists was solidified with him being crowned CMC OZ Artist of the Year and also took out CMC Australian Video of the Year award for “What Your Love Looks Like” from Brand’s tenth studio album ‘My Side Of The Street’. Brand said: “These awards are 100% totally about the fans. They give me everything and keep me going. From the bottom of my heart I thank them.”

Host and CMC’s Morgan Evans has capped off a monumental week following his CMA Global Artist of The Year award and this evening saw Morgan awarded CMC Male Oz Artist of the Year, which he also took out last year. “This means so much. Two years in a row, it’s the best feeling ever”, he said.

Country music king Keith Urban, took home both the CMC International Artist of the Year and CMC International Video of the Year, an award he has won for the last three years, this year for “Cop Car” from his eighth studio album ‘Fuse’. Currently shooting American Idol, Urban thanked his fans and CMC via a video acceptance speech.

Emerging star Christie Lamb has undeniably made an impression since the release of her Debut Album ‘All She Wrote’, and is one of the new breed of artists bringing a fresh, contemporary stamp to Australian Country Music and was this evening was awarded CMC New Oz Artist of the Year.

Award wining singer-songwriter Amber Lawrence – who has released her 4th album ‘Superheros’, which debuted at #3 on The ARIA Country Charts – was crowned CMC Female Oz Artist of the Year.

The McClymonts have thrilled audiences with their latest album, their fourth ‘Here’s To You & I’ filled with heartfelt stories, irresistible tunes and unmistakable honesty, which has made the sister trio (Brooke, Sam and Mollie) a fan favourite and were awarded CMC Group or Duo of the Year.

The awards included stellar acoustic performances by first class international and local artists, including Lady Antebellum who performed ‘One Great Mystery’, Maddie & Tae who performed ‘Girl In A Country Song’, Kacey Musgraves performed ‘Follow Your Arrow’, Troy Cassar-Daley performed ‘Take A Walk In My Country’, Lee Brice performed ‘I Don’t Dance’ and Adam Brand who surprised the audience, being joined for the first time on stage together with The Wolfe Brothers and Travis Collins who performed the Billy Thorpe classic ‘Most People I Know’.

All performers will thrill audiences once again when they head to CMC Rocks QLD 2015, held at Willowbank Raceway, on the Cunningham Highway near Ipswich, on Friday, March 13 – Sunday, March 15.

Thursday, March 19 at 8pm AEST / 7pm Qld time on CMC and Saturday, March 28 at 9.30pm AEST / 8.30pm Qld time on FOX8.
