Former Seven, Nine journo becomes CNN anchor

Lynda Kinkade, formerly a Today Tonight and Nine News reporter, has become a CNN weekend anchor based in Atlanta.

Lynda Kinkade, formerly a Today Tonight and Nine News reporter, has become a CNN weekend anchor based in Atlanta.

She will anchor ‘Newsroom’ and ‘International Desk’ on Saturdays and Sundays.

Kinkade had previously worked in Melbourne for five years on Today Tonight, plus four years at Nine as a reporter for Nine News in Sydney. In 2013, Kinkade moved to New York to work as a freelance journalist, recently reporting on the Harlem explosion which killed 8 people, Malaysia Airlines MH17 being shot down in Ukraine and the New York Ebola case.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of CNN International Mike McCarthy said: “We are thrilled to welcome Lynda to the CNN family. She has done an outstanding job freelancing for CNN over the last few months and we are delighted to make her a permanent part of the team. Our on-air line-up has never looked stronger.”

Kinkade joins fellow Aussies at CNN including Anna Coren, Phil Black, John Vause, Michael Holmes and Rosemary Church.
