Freeview has taken out an award at the International Interactive TV Awards 2015, in Paris last night.
Hybrid TV service FreeviewPlus won in the category of Best Enhanced TV Service.
Chief Executive Officer Liz Ross said, “We are thrilled that Freeview’s commitment to delivering the best interactive TV experience has been recognised at the International Interactive TV Awards.
“Competition was fierce in the categories and it’s an absolute honour to be considered among the best in the world.”
“Australians can be assured that FreeviewPlus is at the very forefront of the global development of hybrid TV technology and services,” she said.
Launched in September FreeviewPlus is described as a ‘world-first aggregated TV service using HbbTV technology’, combining Catch Up TV services, EPG and additional content.
It was the only Australian entry to win an award.

As much of a “world first” as the ones Big Brother Australia have claimed over the years.
I think all the negative comments below are from people confusing Freeview, with Freeview Plus.
The biggest lie is that all programmes start on the hour or half hour, except for sbs or the abc?? according to their guide?
Prime Newcastle Freeview EPG not working. Freeview tell me to call Samsung while at the same time all other channels, including Prime Wyong do work. 9 days for a nonsense reply.
I have freeview plus and it’s awesome !
Who did they pay for that?
TV has been interactive around the world for years.
Red Buttons, Catch Up etc
We are just starting to catch up now…..
