Actor Harrison Ford has been hospitalised after a vintage plane crashed on a golf course in California.
LA Times reports the aircraft crashed into Penmar Golf Course about two blocks from Santa Monica Municipal Airport. He was treated on the scene by two doctors who happened to be at golf course.
According to the FAA, the plane crashed shortly after takeoff, around 2:20 p.m local time, after suffering some kind of “mechanical failure.” Ford can be heard in audio from the plane saying that he needed to make an emergency landing.
Ford, 72, is an avid aviator who is often seen flying vintage planes.
Emergency officials would not identify the victim of the crash but said he was conscious, breathing and alert when paramedics arrived.
TV chopper footage showed him on a stretcher being taken into an ambulance on the golf course.
There are varying reports to the extent of Ford’s injuries.
While the Los Angeles Fire Department initially indicated the pilot was taken to the hospital in “critical condition,” the Santa Monica Fire Department later said he was “conscious and breathing” and in “fair to moderate” condition.
Ford, best known for his Indiana Jones and Star Wars screen roles, has also appeared in TV projects including The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, The Possessed, Dynasty, Petrocelli, Kung Fu, Gunsmoke, Love American Style, The FBI, Mod Squad, Ironside and The Virginian.

See this is what happens when Chewbacca is not at the controls 🙂
Hope he gets well soon.
He did a great job landing where he did
Can you imaging being on of those golfers who day just started off playing with mates then suddenly a plane crashes, you run over and look down and see Harrison Ford. You would think your eyes are playing tricks. But good to hear he is ok.
Probably trying to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs…
i guess he really doesn’t like snakes!!
His son has since tweeted that he’s OK, and I’m not surprised – I saw this one time where he survived a nuclear bomb blast by hiding inside a fridge…
“I didn’t know you could fly!!”
“Fly yes….. Land No!!”
The two best places in the world to have an accident of some kind – outside a hospital or on a golf course. Both always have lot’s of doctors nearby.
Exactly what I was thinking, before I even got to your comment…. 😀
