MKR records tumble

WA duo create waves with the highest scoring MKR instant restaurant of all time.

Perth marketing executives Eva & Debra broke My Kitchen Rules records last night with the highest scoring instant restaurant of all time.

Scoring a whopping 98/110, they earned four perfect 10s from judges Manu Feildel and Pete Evans.

Their score eclipsed the previous equal highs of Series 5’s Helena and Vikki and Series 3’s Nic and Rocco, who both scored 95/110.

It was a sweet victory given both were amongst low-scoring teams given a chance to redeem themselves and avoid elimination. On their last appearance they scored just 46/110.

Manu said their prawn cakes were “ridiculous.”

“Ridiculously good. Redeem is not even the word. This is unbelievable. There’s no Thai restaurant in this country who does cakes like this.”

Pete Evans said of a keralan fish molee with lemon rice, “It’s actually better than the entrée. It was brilliant. If this is not the best you’ve done then watch out.”

“I just can’t believe how you’ve turned things around from where you were at the last instant restaurant to where you are tonight,” said Manu Feildel.

Pete Evans added, “If you girls can harness that energy and confidence then you have what it takes to go right to the end. You have to believe in yourself.”

“Who were we on the first instant restaurant?” asked a stunned Debra. “This Eva and Debra are two different people to the first instant restaurant. It’s like an epiphany.”

But not everybody was taken by the tastes.

Fellow WA contestant Kat said, “I don’t know if it’s because we’re on the bottom of the leader board and I’m being a jerk or I’m actually really tasting this, but to me I think my fish is undercooked,” she said. “Like really undercooked. It’s really hard because I don’t know if what I’m tasting is real or not.”

WA’s Kat and Andre are now on the bottom of the leader board with just Katie and Nikki left to cook tonight.

  1. Well deserved result last night. So glad the girls did it. Kat needs to go. I really really hope Nikki and Katie beat them tonight but I have this gut feeling they won’t for some reason. Looking forward to the next stage of the competition now.

  2. Watched MKR for the first time in a while last night, struggled to get into it, lost interest very quickly tbh. How it airs multiple times each week and still has the highest ratings in primetime without fail, i will never know. Lack of competition on FTA tv clearly.

  3. I’d just like to say thank you to the promo department for completely ruining this episode. Lost interest halfway through because I already knew what was coming.

    1. Agree, The promos totally destroyed all suspense in last night’s show.
Anyone voting “strategically”, not playing the game fairly, should go home. Shows the real character of the contestant doing this.

  4. I hope Kat and Andre get the boot. They are so negative. I also really like Katie and Nikki so hoping they make it through to the next round. Could watch them all day.

Eva and Debra did a great job last night!! Great episode
