  1. Nice to see the awful ACA come third in the 7pm slot behind ABC News and Home and Away. This has been happening quite a bit recently and I’m hoping it is the beginning of a wider trend.

  2. bettestreep2008

Can’t believe those ratings for MKR. Isn’t it just 5 minutes of cooking stretched over 2 hours? And people are actually recording it to watch later?

    Good lord.

    • It is entertaining, not really a true cooking show like Masterchef but still very entertaining.

Wanted to see them cook Snapper the other day and they did not even show them filleting the fish. So Masterchef is still our favourite cooking show by far but we watch MKR live.

  3. Watched MKR on 7
Recorded Frost on 72 and QANDA on 2 and watched QANDA after MKR.
Did not even flick over once to peek at 30years of Neighbours special – show is on the way out – why bother?
Interesting QANDA last night and wanted to see how Bowen performs. Looks like he is sharp and intelligent. A refreshing change imho. Hate that woman from Chamber of Commerce. She must have written all the policies for the current government LOL.

  4. bettestreep2008

Shame about those Neighbours ratings. I enjoyed it and was watching more for who didn’t appear on it (excluding the ones who have deceased of course).

I personally wanted it to be longer.

The producers can only blame the geniuses in programming for the dismal ratings. Didn’t they realise that MKR groupies had been starved of their rotten show the day before? And Nine had the invincible 5 daily eps of TBBT and ABC always rates through the roof on Mondays.

Someone suggested that Neighbours would be going on for 60 years . Given it has been dumped on Eleven and rating between 200-300K for the past 5 years or so – and a 30th anniversary special rating less than 450K – I would think the show is on its last legs.

Relying on the UK nowadays is not the same as when it was during the mid80s and 90s.

    • Agree – Neighbours is on the way out. I’m not unhappy about this as I want Ten to come up with new interesting shows and they are starting to do that again and that will lift Ten back to where it belongs, oscillating between no2 and no3 spots like when I worked for them and be4 the billionaires almost wrecked it. The current board members and CEO are doing a much better job 🙂

  5. My apologies for being repetitive but I have to say again that Nine is really lucky to have TBBT. Whenever they want to prop up their ratings for their main and secondary channels, they can always rely on TBBT. Why would you want to explore other alternative new shows when you can rely on just one show? Of course, in the long run, the bubble will burst but nobody knows when. It is disheartening that TEN is trying with all these new shows (some are Aussie produced) and yet they can’t beat one American sitcom.

    • Ten is doing the right thing right now and have some better rating show. That is what they must concentrate on, not TBBT on Nine because that show carries its own destiny in it’s name. 😉

    • Channel Ten have lost touch with the Australian public. People don’t like Ten and barely watch it. The network lacks focus, direction and a clear brand to be communicated to the public.

Whilst I don’t like Channel Nine’s programming output, as I find it very one dimensional. People are comfortable with Channel Nine and the product they are offering.

  6. Considering I haven’t watched Neighbours regularly in at least 10 years I really enjoyed the special too and thought it might have rated better considering it got a decent amount of promotion.

  7. They watch TBBT repeats because they either missed the earlier episodes or they are addicted. Like I can’t understand why so many people watch MKR (horrible show) but a lot of people actually enjoy it or are addicted.

  8. Can understand people watching TBBT new episodes, but am at a total loss to understand how many viewers keep watching the same repeats all the time, night after night..

  9. The Neighbours Reunion should be on 11 only rather than simulcasted on Ten. That show was slaughtered so badly by MKR.
The Project out of the top 20 – terrible.

    • That’s a shame. I actually really enjoyed it – I haven’t watched Neighbours in years but it was a lovely trip down memory lane from when I watched it as a kid.
