New line-up for ABC News 24

ABC News 24 has refreshed its afternoon and evening line-up, including for Lateline & The Drum.

ABC News 24 has refreshed its afternoon and evening line-up, anchoring around Lateline as a 9:30pm show (it also screens later on ABC) and returning The Drum to a 6:30pm timeslot.

The Business is also 2 x 15 programs.

The schedule changes take affect from Monday.

3:00pm (AEDT) ABC News – Afternoons
The latest ABC News, with comprehensive analysis and original reporting following today’s top stories and live coverage of events as they unfold, including:

4:30-4:45pm (AEDT) The Business
A look at the day’s business and finance news directly following the financial market close.

5:30-5:45pm (AEDT) Grandstand
The latest sports news, with contributions from the ABC commentators and leading sports figures.

6:00pm (AEDT) ABC News
The latest ABC News from Australia and around the world.

6:30pm (AEDT) The Drum
Brings together a panel of journalists and political and social commentators to analyse the day’s news in an engaging and entertaining way. (Also on ABC TV at 5:30 pm local)

7:00pm (AEDT) ABC News – Evenings
Make sense of the day with a round-up of the news that matters, featuring the best ABC reporting from home and across the globe, including:

7:30pm (AEDT) Grandstand

  1. State based news, sport and weather is quite different to the national news at 7 on News 24.

    Also there is no real “doubling up” of resources.

    Crews, cameraman, directors, control room etc – they are all there at 6pm for News 24 and again at 8pm. It’s no extra cost or resources to have them do a 7pm news.

    The reports have been filed,m the content exists and the talent is there.

  2. Right, so there are enough resources to run a national ABC News on ABC News 24 at the same time each state runs a local 7pm bulletin on the main channel each night? Yes, I know that in delay states that is not the case for ABC News 24 being that it is live across the nation, but this is a double up of resouces having two separate News bulletins running on ABC TV and ABC News 24 at the same time. But there are no spare resources to run state based 7.30’s? Why not run the sate based 7pm News locally in each state on ABC News 24 at the same time as ABC TV as a simulcast to save resources?
