NRL kicks off for Nine but Seven takes Thursday

Ratings: For the second night in a row sport scores for Nine, but Seven takes its 5th night of the week.

For the second night in a row Sport has been a saviour to Nine’s schedule.

The return of NRL drew a strong crowd in Sydney and Brisbane last night with total audiences in 2 cities upstaging other shows airing in 5 cities.

NRL pulled 653,000 in 2 cities however there were another 76,000 viewing a GEM simulcast coded separately in 2 cities.

But once again Seven network won the night with a share of 31.8% then Nine 28.0%, TEN 18.7%, ABC 16.1% and SBS 5.3%.

My Kitchen Rules (1.43m) remained #1 for Seven then Seven News (836,000 / 788,000), Home and Away (759,000), Million Dollar Minute (446,000), State of Affairs (389,000 / 236,000).

Nine ran a staggered schedule led by Nine News (935,000 / 917,000), followed NRL (see above), A Current Affair (613,000), Hot Seat (529,000). Inside Story was 222,000 in 3 cities and Kings Cross ER was 185,000 in 3 cities.

TEN Eyewitness News was 528,000 for TEN then Gogglebox edged ahead of its premiere (503,000) and The Project (503,000 / 380,000). A Law and Order: SVU repeat was 299,000.

ABC News (815,000) led ABC’s evening followed by 7:30 (671,000), Outback ER (514,000), Hiding lifted from last week’s 327,000 (383,000), Antiques Roadshow (313,000) and How We Got to Now (286,000).

On SBS ONE it was Heston’s Fantastical Food (230,000), Gourmet Farmer Afloat (225,000), SBS World News (134,000) and Sons of Liberty (126,000).

7TWO’s Lewis led multichannels with 301,000.

  1. Gogglebox is a great show. Well done to Ten for airing such a fantastic series. That girl Angie is absolutely stunning, I love seeing her opinions every week. I also like the gay couple and the family of four. They should air this show every week

  3. Sadly for Ch9 when they got rid of Vossy (Andrew Voss) and brought in the shock jock bloke they also got rid of a lot of viewers, the A League were the benificiaries of that blunder

  4. I wanted to watch the Block (Grumpy Face).
    It was the first time this year that I watched a whole episode of MKR, so a really good programming decision by Channel 9…………

  5. State of Affairs is bombing badly by Seven’s standards (even by Ten’s standards actually!) and Hiding’s increase from last week is still a poor rating for 8.30pm.
