Shark Tank tugs at the heart strings this Sunday, 7:30pm on TEN.

There was not a dry eye on Shark Tank when two mums made a heartfelt plea for investment in their unique childcare idea.

Rebecca Glover and Leah James both have children with special needs and established Hummingbirds when traditional care failed their kids.

Hummingbirds offers long day care, early intervention and support to children with a disability or special needs and their siblings.

The service is the only one of its kind in Brisbane but can currently afford to offer only four places. Rebecca and Leah want to increase that to more than 20.

Already 40 families and care-givers are on a wait list for the centre, so bigger premises and more staff are needed.

“Never let emotion get in the way of business” is a mantra of Shark Tank’s Janine Allis, John McGrath, Andrew Banks, Naomi Simson and Steve Baxter. The Sharks are visibly moved by Rebecca and Leah’s story and their plans to roll the model out nationally. But while the Sharks open their hearts, will they open their wallet?
