Sherlock back to Victorian London
Co-creator Steven Moffat confirms Sherlock is going back to the future for a one-off special.

Thoroughly modern drama Sherlock will step back in time for its upcoming special, to be located in Victorian London.
Co-creator Steven Moffat confirmed earlier speculation about the episode after Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were spotted in 19th century clothes.
Moffatt confirmed more details on the 90-minute episode to Entertainment Weekly.
“The special is its own thing,” he said. “We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it – as we could hardly conceal – it’s Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble.”
The special is near completion, but while no airdate has been confirmed it is tipped for December in the UK.

Much prefer the Sherlock Holmes stories in this (its proper) context. Have not warmed to any of the modern “interpretations”.
This special should be worth a look.
Sherlock returns to the time when the solution to a problem came from the “leetle grey cells” ably assisted by nicotine and narcotics. 90 mins probably means a lot of soap opera and sub-plots, I could wear out my FF button. I prefer Sherlock in short story form.
As this is a “Special” set in a different time, Stephen may not need to show a police box.
