  1. Watched V8’s on Ten until it finished, then later watched Empire and Star Trek movie. Seen it be4 but still enjoyed it. Did it for Spocky e.g. Nimoy.
Recorded Australia series on 7 and Downton Abbey afterwards. Shark Tank on Ten.
V8’s rated well in Adelaide since so many fans attended the venue as well.
Ten doing much better now and Shark Tank is doing very well. Good show imo. 🙂

  2. bettestreep2008

Empire tanked because it was on late Sunday night – didn’t start until 9.15pm I think – and the fact it can be viewed online for free (and not so free).

Like HTGAWMurder and Good Wife – these shows are not being fast-tracked and are actually halfway through their respective seasons in the US.

Networks are still not listening to viewers.

    1. If we can view the shows online – legally or not – we will.
    2. Viewers are sick of the 20 minutes of ads per hour and pop-up ads during the show.
    3. Viewers are sick of shows starting between 5-35 minutes behind schedule. IACGMOOH finished about 10 minutes over time but they can be forgiven slightly because it is live from South Africa. MKR and the Block have absolutely no excuse for their overrunning cos these shows were filmed and edited months ago.

    • I agree with your points even tho I don’t personally like to watch things online. I have an excellent DVD collection! I asked an exec once why they drove audiences mad with overly frequent ads – why not have less ad space and just ask for an even higher advertising fee for that premium spot? I didn’t really obtain an answer but I do know that many Aussies make up their mind never to buy from a particular advertiser once they have seen more than half a dozen ads in a show they were longing to watch in an uninterrupted fashion. These days I never watch a drama show on FTA or foxtel. I want to get into the story and so buy it on DVD.

    • Channel 10 are up to date with the US with the good wife.

Empire appears to have rated about the same as ncis new orleans did last week. Whereas it could be quite a bit better I think tanked might be a bit harsh. It did start in Jan in the US so don’t think ten should’ve waited this long to start airing it. Lack of fast tracking has a big impact on ratings.

  3. Looks like Fox Sports are on a winner with the V8s, taking out 7 of the top 20 spots, plus taking another 7 spots for cricket, soccer and AFL. I would be interested to see a story comparing previous years ratings for sports such as the V8s on FTA who were FTA exclusives but are now shared with STV (another could be netball which moved to Fox Sports in 2013 and was shared with SBS, and now with TEN, another could be AFL with Seven and Fox Sports, etc.) to see whether the total audience remains constant, grows or drops. Nevertheless it is obvious that we are a sports-loving country.

    • Secret Squïrrel

It premiered even lower than I thought it would (~440k). Saw a couple of ads for it during the Clipsal 500 but they didn’t make me feel like tuning in. Couldn’t be sure that it would start on time after Ten’s reality programs or that they wouldn’t bump it at the last moment like they’ve been doing with lots of their programs lately.
