Now that Seven has confirmed its My Kitchen Rules grand final as 7:30pm Monday, Nine has pitted Reno Rumble’s premiere against the return of House Rules.

Both will begin at 7:30pm Tuesday May 5th (Updated: MasterChef will also debut in the same slot). Reno Rumble continues on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tonight, meet Australia’s two newest teams of renovators, the Blue Tongues and Red Backs. They’ll be transforming two houses every single week, creating dream homes and changing the lives of some deserving home owners.

Nine will follow with the return of Love Child at 8:40pm -it hasn’t had a local drama in this slot for some time. New eps of 2 Broke Girls and Mike and Molly are replaced by a movie, and in some states Footy Classified at 9:40pm.

Joan’s new career as a doctor is threatened when she helps a pregnant teen. Viv’s estranged mother tries to take control of her life. Annie learns a harsh lesson as a single mother in 1970s Kings Cross.

Meanwhile against the MKR finale Nine has a new episode of The Big Bang Theory, followed by a repeat and the movie Skyfall.

Person of Interest is also out next Monday with a movie repeat in play.

  1. This is really stupid programming by all 3 networks.

3 flagship Reno/cooking reality competition shows up against each other.

The smart network would counter programme with drama comedy or factual. And save their big reality show for a time when the landscape is clear of two other Montster shows

    1. But that’s just the thing, the landscape will never be clear. After House Rules and Reno Rumble finish, X Factor and The Voice will start again and after Masterchef is finished, The Bachelor will take over.

      1. @sav001 how do you know that for sure? There is a rumour that Ten might add another series of I Am A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here at the back half of this year. The Bachelor would probably premiere in September

  2. While I personally will watch House Rules and Reno Rumble, I think it would be great if Masterchef was the big winner out of this crazy programming.

  3. Looking forward to Love Child but will record it for later. Don’t want to sit around waiting for the reality shows to finish plus all the ads. And I still don’t understand why new Big Bang keeps being shuffled round the schedule when its one of Nine’s highest rating titles. Why not find a permanent slot and nurture it?

  4. So if winners and losers returns to its Tuesday night timeslot of 8.30 to 9.15ish start time there will be 2 Australian dramas competing against each other in roughly the same timeslot.

So are channel 7 and 9 trying to become clones of each other. The both host hourly news bulletins, their sunday night weekly current affairs show now has the same 8.30ish timeslots, their 7.30pm weekday reality offering will both be renovation based and suspect a they will both have a sunday night 7pm episode and now their main Australian weekly drama will have approximately the same Tuesday evening timeslot. So much for alternatives and such lack of imagination.
