Sydney actors Andrew Steel and Alexander Bruszt, and the Gold Coast’s Tom Dalzell, are all in the running for a role on US soap Days of our Lives.

They have been culled from over 300 entries in the hunt for a new actor via an online talent contest.

Bruszt and Steel will be flown to LA at the end of this week, to join LA-based Dalzell for a screen test.

Foxtel’s Arena channel, Corday Productions Inc. and Sony Pictures Television are offering the chance for one to be cast in the role of Fynn, a handsome, rugged Australian doctor who arrives in Salem to do his residency, specifically to gain skills as a surgeon, working under the supervision of Doctor Jonas (Shawn Christian).

Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng said, “The number of submissions and the calibre of talent we were introduced to through this partnership with Arena far exceeded our expectations, and we’re thrilled about testing the top three finalists next week.”

Alexander Bruszt and Andrew Steel will be flown to LA at the end of this week, where they will meet fellow finalist Tom Dalzell to do a screen test for the role on Days of our Lives.

The winner will be announced after the screen test in LA and will return to Australia briefly before heading back to the States to film episodes airing late 2015, in time with the show’s 50th anniversary.

The role offered to our new found Aussie hunk will hit our screens for the first time, in a 13 week role which will culminate during the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations in November. Days of our Lives is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Brady’s, the Horton’s, and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama. In true Days of our Lives style, our Australian actor’s character will find things are shaken up the first day he arrives.

Days of our Lives airs Express from the US at 12.50pm weekdays on Arena. Arena provides weekly DOOL omnibus catch up on Sunday mornings from 7-11.30am EST.

  1. Just get Sonny a new husband, please. Will has to go; he’s losing it. Maybe one of these guys? 🙂
(It’s the only story-line I watch, the rest I fast forward.)

    • Hasn’t Will become so unlikeable? Don’t like the new Will, nor how easily he betrayed Sonny…I do the same (fast forward the rest) LOL

    • Michael Young

Omg! Me too! Where is that fast-forward….
We watch DOOL for this storyline, particularly since they introduced Paul to stir it all up. I wish they would bring back that hot bell boy Derreck! 🙂
I am really over Will too, but I realised the other day that his “spoilt-brat-selfish-young-queen” character is very realistic … he is no longer meant to be a “lovable gay” like Sony.
This is the best and strongest gay storyline I have seen on any soap for a very long time!
I must say, that there are a couple of other guys on DOOL that are stunning … JJ, Brady, and that bar tender… 🙂
I think they will choose Andrew Steel as he has that “blonde Aussie look”.

      • Bold and Beautiful can take a leaf out of Days’ books…they have it all sewn up with casting guys that are very easy to look at! Yeah, bring back that troublemaker Derek…we need some quadrangles happening!
