If you’re interested in the emerging players in the new online streaming game, then check out tonight’s Media Watch on ABC.

TV Tonight understands it is likely to come under closer analysis.

That is of course, unless something more pressing garners its attention -like say a stoush with 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

  1. Surely one of the the biggest issue for “commercial” television is the fact that people are increasingly zapping through ad breaks – or jumping onto social media during them – often encouraged to do so by shows like X Factor etc. Does anyone sit through ad breaks anymore? Just a matter of time before advertisers realise they are spending big bucks on a product no one is consuming. Let’s face it, as people become more accustomed to watching movies etc uninterrupted – ad breaks are on their last legs – just like the demise of the classifieds (rivers of gold) in newspapers.

  2. David Gyngell appeared utterly clueless to what viewers want in his interview on media watch. Nothing in that interview says nine will ever change its ways and come out of the dark ages. All he needed to say was that world is changing and in the future we will fast track overseas content. There is no good reason to for instance delay Season 3 of arrow which is almost complete in the US yet to air in Australia. That there won’t be late timeslot changes to shows and viewers won’t need to chase shows around the epg. That shows won’t disappear after one episode such as was happened to Step Dave on Gem earlier this year. Finally that drama won’t be an afterthought that aired too late at night. Also If you want to move with the times then you need a good catch up site. Jump in is the worst catch up site with inaccurate start times for shows. Footy classified is listed as returning soon on…
