Former Biggest Loser host Fiona Falkiner will take over from Hayley Lewis for the show’s 10th season later this year, to be known as TBL Families.

Falkiner appeared in the in 2006 season losing 30kgs, becoming a ‘plus-size’ model based in London. She also appeared on Dancing with the Stars in the same year.

She replaces Hayley Lewis after 5 seasons.

TEN announced it would return TBL Families for late 2015 despite comments by CEO Hamish McLennan the network was dealing with ‘tired’ franchises.

In January network chief programmer Beverley McGarvey told TV Tonight throwing away a franchise because of one failed season was unwise.

“The show really resonates with Australians but Ararat was a particularly difficult series, our schedule was difficult and there are many reasons as to why it didn’t work,” she said.

“But it’s important to nurture established brands and we have shows in different stages of their life cycle on the schedule.”

Falkiner has previously said of the series, “When I was on The Biggest Loser I felt like I was being judged by the whole of Australia.”

  1. Any reason why Hayley is no longer host? Was she axed? If so then thst was a mistake!
Hopefully they won’t change the trainers, I like Michelle, commando and Shannon.

  2. I was surprised to hear that Hayley Lewis is no longer the host of The Biggest Loser. I thought she did a pretty good job. But good luck to her in whatever she wants to do next. Also I think Fiona will do a great job as host. I mean she is a former contestant and will understand what the current contestants are going through.
Also I hope The Biggest Loser will be on soon and on more than 3 nights a week because 3 episodes a week are not enough.

  3. Hopefully she will do a better job than Hayley Lewis. Still wont make me watch the show again though.
The first familly themed series was the beginning of the downfall of the show. The nasty machinations of some contestants in this series was a turn off.
I dont think the family theme is the wayto go. They should have gone back to basics with a group of contestants vying to be the biggest loser. No frills no outlandish challenges. Run it just one or maybe 2 nights a week with a fitness masterclass inserted into The Living Room on Friday nights (maybe exten TLR to 90 mins).

    1. I really liked Haley in fact our whole family liked here didn’t know she was the problem much better then the first host and always there for the constants and there melt downs, this is turning into xfactor with tossing the host

  4. I don’t remember her at all, i’m sure i watched that series. I like Hayley, maybe she’d had enough, or this is the network’s way of sprucing up a show.
