No reunion for Celebrity hosts at Logies

Update: Julia Morris unhappy with "100% bullshit story" about Logie presenting. "I'm not happy."

Logies executive producer Brent Williams has denied blocking the return pairing of Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown as presenters for the upcoming ceremony.

But the Sunday Telegraph reports TEN has complained Nine has blocked the reuniting of the I’m a Celebrity hosts.

Both appeared at the 2013 ceremony, cast by Logies producers, and hosted the 2014 nominations ceremony. It was a chemistry that led all the way to TEN’s Reality show.

But TEN claims they had their offer of Brown turned down, with just Amanda Keller and Waleed Aly due to present.

A Nine spokeswoman said no final decision had been made on Morris would partner with for the May 3 broadcast.

Morris recently told TV Tonight she favoured an event without a host.

“Whoever is going to put themselves up for that flaming is going to go down in a blaze of glory. There doesn’t seem to be as big a knifing of the Logies when there are lots of people from lots of different networks doing it,” she said.

“There’s no one person to hang it on.”

UPDATED: Julia Morris has responded on Twitter that the story is “100% bullshit & goes some way to damaging relationships that I’ve worked f***ing hard on. I’m not happy.”

  1. Why can’t we do what America does with their award ceremonies and change the hosting network each year?

Then, while we are changing the rules, if someone is to host the show let’s not force them to be tied to a particular network because it just means all we see is recycled and outdated celebs from Nine trying to get their 30 seconds of spotlight.

    1. Too right, would be much better to share it around and stop with the bickering about which network had which stars presenting. While we are on that, the networks seem to make it very difficult for their stars to appear on other networks – I remember Rove saying it was hard to be able to get networks to allow other people to appear on his show. Such a shame, the US don’t do that so they get to have a range of guests on from competing networks. We need to be able to do that considering we have such a small pool of talent (in comparison to the more populated countries).

          1. Seven and TEN stars have always presented at Logies, along with ABC and SBS. I suspect you are meaning as hosts? Where a network is footing the costs it’s not unreasonable to put their talent forward. Shane Bourne hosted in between City Homicide’s demise but before Tricky Business was announced.

  2. I’d suggest that if she knows the story is rubbish that she refrain from suggesting it is “damaging relationships”. It might lead people external to that circle posing questions or rumours but if all the people within the circle know the score…they can readily rise above. I dunno, I’m cynical enough to consider most of these types of protests and stories are marketing energy and really, clouds of fluff worth less than fairy floss.

  3. It’s time that the logies were taken off nine. It’s been 20 years now on the one network. I realise that’s because of some ownership deal connection between nine and TV week but having one network control it for this long is not right. The logies should be shared around the networks every few years. It might even add a smidgen of credibility to the awards. The last few years the whole night just seems like one long commercial for nine.

    1. I agree with you on this point, For years we have put up with the same type of production.

TEN do a good job on this type of event, but I do not know anyone who reads TV Week anymore, I used to buy it every week, but now it is too expensive, and not the magazine it used to be.

I am fairly sure TV Week is owned by the Bauer Media group, it used to be part of ACP, part of Nine, but the whole landscape has changed now.
