SBS returns the Swedish crime series of Wallander (not to be confused with the UK series starring Kenneth Branagh) later this month.
This is a 6-part series that is long overdue, having premiered in Sweden in January 2013 and in the UK last May.
Kurt Wallander is a complex man. Something of a loner, he’s dark and moody, he drinks too much and he sometimes breaks the law – the police won’t be coming after him though, he’s one of them.
In the third series of this Swedish crime thriller, Krister Henriksson assumes the role of the master
detective, bringing justice to the criminals of Ystad, Southern Sweden in his own inimitable style.
Beautifully shot in the exquisite scenery of Skane, Sweden, and featuring some masterful portrayals,
the series remains faithful to the characters and stories that have made Mankell’s books so popular.
Episode One: The Troubled Man
Wallander’s daughter Linda is married and has a daughter of her own. The disappearance of Linda’s
father-in-law draws Wallander into a case that has roots in Swedish submarine incidents.
Tuesday, 21 April at 10.30pm on SBS ONE.

I really prefer Krister Henriksson in this part….I have enjoyed the series from the beginning…
Sad that this is his last….but he he is not a young man, so I can understand..
I remember reading somewhere that Kenneth Branagh had found some of the darkness of the part difficult to deal with.
There was also another Swedish actor….I think in a movie version shown on SBS….that did not grab me much…found it was not something I would watch again…
I didn’t know they had made this. Interesting they are starting with the Troubled Man, presumably since they followed their usual practice of giving the major episodes based on the books a cinema release and DVD release. The novel is Wallander’s last case and the BBC series is using as their final episode.
Looking forward to this. Wonder if SBS will do a late night replay like they did with the previous seasons
I’ve been eagerly waiting for this season. The Swedish version is so much better than the UK version.
