The Kettering Incident: teaser

First look at atmospheric mystery, filmed in Tasmania and coming to Foxtel later this year.

Foxtel released the first teaser for its new mystery, The Kettering Incident, following Deadline Gallipoli last night.

Shot entirely in Tasmania, the atmospheric drama features Elizabeth Debicki, Matthew Le Nevez, Henry Nixon, Anthony Phelan, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Sacha Horler, Sianoa Smit-McPhee, Damon Gameau, Damien Garvey, Ben Oxenbould, Dylan Young, Neil Pigot, Suzi Dougherty and Kevin MacIsaac plus Tasmanian actors Alison Whyte, Kris McQuade, Brad Kannegiesser, Katie Robertson, Marcus Hensley, Nathan Spencer and Matt Burton.

When Debicki’s character Dr Anna Macy returns to her hometown of Kettering, a missing girl case stirs up painful memories. As Anna discovers more about the girl, she uncovers terrifying secrets woven into the very fabric of the town and hidden deep in her own past.

The series is co-created by Victoria Madden (Lynda La Plante’s Trial and Retribution, The Bill, Halifax FP) and Vincent Sheehan (Animal Kingdom, The Hunter, The Rover). Madden is also showrunner and co-writers are Andrew Knight, Cate Shortland and Louise Fox.

It is produced by Porchlight Films in association with Sweet Potato Films – producers are Sheehan, Madden and Andy Walker. Directors: Rowan Woods and Tony Krawitz. Executive producer: Foxtel Head of Drama Penny Win.

The first two episodes will be the opening night event of Dark Mofo Films in Hobart on June 10. Tickets went on sale yesterday and sold out within three hours.

An on air date is yet to be announced.

  1. The promo is the exact opposite of the blurb. Painful memories; Terrifying secrets; Hidden deep in the past. All sounds good and interesting, so why not make a promo that plays up on those elements, not this awkward, jumbled, borderline uplifting promo full of strange imagery that just makes the viewer go “m’eh”.

I’ll still want to see it because everything I’ve read on the production so far has piqued my interest. This promo will probably do more harm than good.

  2. I was reluctant to jump in but I agree with Lizzie May and Gonzo – that trailer is awful – the visuals are not arresting, the voiceover is gobbledygook and the music is awful. It does not scream:must see this. Frankly – given how great the Foxtel promo team usually is, I’m worried.

  3. That trailer is confounding rather than intriguing. Hope it’s not indicative of the show itself. If I was Foxtel l’d cut another trailer.
