ABC will stage its second ‘Mental As’ week in October to coincide with 2015 World Mental Health Day on October 10.

The week of programming highlights across TV, radio and online follows from last year’s successful event creating awareness of mental health and illness and wellbeing. Last year ABC was praised for its shows including the Friday Night Crack Up, Changing Minds and Agony of the Mind.

“Last year’s Mental As was well received by our audience and the mental health sector and we are very confident of making it a success again, with a strong focus on generating more conversations,” Managing Director Mark Scott said.

“It was a great role for the ABC to lead that much needed national conversation and we are looking forward to hosting it this year.”

Last year ABC helped raise $1.5 million for mental health research, with funds going to the Society for Mental Health Research.

Almost half of all Australians are touched by mental health issues either directly or indirectly.

The week of programs will begin on Monday 5 October, with World Mental Health Day on Saturday October 10.
