BAFTAs 2015: TV winners

Clive James is honoured at BAFTAs with wins going to Ant & Dec, Happy Valley, Graham Norton & Coronation Street.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts held their 2015 Television awards earlier today, with wins by Ant & Dec, Happy Valley, Graham Norton and Coronation Street.

But while Sherlock was voted the Radio Times Audience Award, Benedict Cumberbatch missed out on Leading Actor for the fifth time, losing to Jason Watkins from The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies (which also won the mini-series award).

Happy Valley‘s Sarah Lancashire also missed out on the Leading Actress gong, won by Georgina Campbell from Murdered By My Boyfriend.

True Detective took the International award.

The evening also honoured Clive James with a special award in recognition of his talent.

BAFTA’s chief executive, Amanda Berry, said James is an “incredible talent. A warm, witty and knowledgeable presenter whose programmes left a vivid impression on so many viewers, myself included”.

In an acceptance speech video, James says he misses his time working in television but that he retired in 2001 at the ‘right time’. ‘Young people were getting very good, very quick,’ he said.
