8 Comments:

  1. Watched Eurovision Song Contest first semi-final on SBS(30) last night and enjoyed it more than ever.
Good to see SBS rating so well by providing these alternative yet very important services – thank you SBS.
Watched a recording from Thursday night of the Anniversary Special of Eurovision co-hosted by Graham Norton with that funny lady – another excellent show on SBS.
Watched Giro Italy Cycling after midnight live on SBS(30).
Fantastic ratings for SBS as a reward from viewers 🙂

  2. Huge numbers for Eurovision semi final one even though it was shown live two days earlier. I guess fans are used to watching primetime replays. The live telecast of the final could get at least 200,000 with majority of people tuning in at breakfast time.

That’s great. Just a shame that it’s prob a direct result of Guy being in it (hence the very strong results in the younger demos).

      • Guy isn’t on it until Sunday though. Last year the demos were really similar for SF1 at 147,000 watching in the 16-39 demo but it was up against the AFL last year, so that account for the slight rise in demos and viewers, it was 60k up on last year.

        • Secret Squïrrel

True but the TV landscape has changed quite a bit since last year – FTA has a lot more competition now and audience numbers, as a rule, tend to be down on 12 months ago.

Last year Eurovision SF1 was 19th in Total, this year it’s 14th. Likewise, last year 5th in 16-39, this year, it tops it.

The most telling datapoint is SBS1’s share of the FTA TV audience which has gone up from 6.7% last year to 9.0% this year. I still think the Guy Factor has helped but the Final should be big!
