Season 4 of UK crime series DCI Banks will have its Australian Premiere on BBC First early next month.

Season 3 is currently screening on ABC on Saturday nights.

There are 6 episodes in the new season starring Stephen Tompkinson (Wild at Heart), Andrea Lowe (The Tudors) and Caroline Catz (Doc Martin).

English detective DCI Alan Banks returns in the fourth series of the popular crime drama based on Peter Robinson’s novels, with three original stories set against the striking backdrop of rural and urban Yorkshire.

DCI Banks struggles to cope with the sudden death of his mother, as he investigates the murder of a young Estonian woman and the disappearance of her drug-dependent sister. He must navigate difficult emotional territory when the body of an eminent lawyer is washed up in an underground river and he suspects a member of her grieving family is responsible for her death.

In the third story, the body of a university student is found dumped in a ravine. His friends claim he was a model undergraduate, but officers Annie and Ken soon discover that he had a double life manufacturing ecstasy.

Wednesdays at 8.30pm from June 3rd BBC First.

  1. The usual three ~100 minutes mysteries. ITV shows them as 6 eps, but distributes them in both forms.
    The BBC has shown them as 3 eps in the past.
