Without Struggle Street to contend with four networks all saw their shares improve compared to a week ago, but it was TEN and ABC that enjoyed the better lifts.

MasterChef was again #1 with 1.13m viewers, with House Rules (763,000) ahead of Reno Rumble (692,000). Wonderland‘s finale at 635,000 was its best crowd since September 2013.

Nine’s experiment with Life on the Dole saw it land in fourth place. While it may have been a cheap option as Programming, it has none of the relevance of the SBS series. Criminal Minds won the slot with 718,000 viewers.

The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (642,000) and Agony (605,000) finally improved without the Struggle Street and The Block Auction competition they’ve combatted in recent weeks.

Seven network won the night with 27.7% then Nine 25.7%, TEN 24.4%, ABC 16.4% and SBS 5.9%.

Seven News (1.04m / 955,000) was best for Seven then Home and Away (810,000), House Rules (763,000), Criminal Minds (718,000 / 517,000) and Million Dollar Minute (547,000). Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD was 146,000.

Nine News (1.1m / 1.03m) led for Nine followed by A Current Affair (862,000), Reno Rumble (692,000), Hot Seat (641,000), Life on the Dole (580,000) and The Amazing 90s was barely amazing at 370,000.

MasterChef Australia topped the night for TEN at 1.13m. The Project was 667,000 / 491,000, Wonderland‘s finale lifted to 635,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 600,000 and Law and Order: SVU was 288,000.

ABC News (818,000) was best on ABC then 7:30 (654,000), The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (642,000), Agony (605,000), QI (529,000), Antiques Roadshow (336,000) and 8MMM (268,000).

On SBS ONE it was Orkney’s Stone Age Temple (218,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (200,000), SBS World News (150,000), Food Safari (102,000) and The Legacy (98,000).

Neighbours ruled multichannels at 262,000.

Sunrise: 333,000
Today: 294,000
ABC News Breakfast: 101,000 / 29,000

  1. I can’t believe that the ABC still shows The Weekly at prime time. It is such an embarrassment . The “jokes” are feeble and Pickering and his mates rely on canned laughter all the time. It is not funny. Bring back Mad as Hell….at least it was funny and clever.

  2. It’s sad that Wonderland attracted a substantial audience thanks to the MasterChef lead-in. People should have been watching the drama regardless of what was shown before it.

  3. Criminal Minds is up, however it’s still less than it was pre-Struggle Street; perhaps this is due to the – how do you say – soft lead-in.

  4. Bit ironic Wonderland faces the chop and so the viewers rise!

From the way Michael Dorman worded his FB post, I don’t see it coming back

    1. “To all of you who supported our show. Thank you for tuning in each week, for falling in love with the stories, the characters & for sharing in what all of us as a team at Wonderland created.
      Much Love,
      MDx”

  5. Struggle Street just took highly damaged disabled individuals and sympathetically milked their antics for all they were worth.

LotD takes ordinary unemployed, capable of semi-skilled work, who in a globalised post-industrial society with a surplus of labour can only compete for low paid, intermittent, insecure employment and so find a slightly lower standard of living with more security living on benefits with minimal effort preferable. The government’s solution is the make their lives less secure though arbitrary rules, payment reductions and penalties to motivate them to work for little money and drive down wages and conditions further.

This is of course a carbon copy of Job Networks corporatised welfare model that Abbott introduced as employment and welfare minister in 1998 and then followed up with Work Choices’ reductions in wages and conditions. So it is actually more…

  6. Really hoping Wonderland gets picked up for another season, was a top notch episode last night and good to see the numbers reflected it…
The way it ended it could easily come back and do a flash forward like 6 months later…

  7. Not bad for 5am! I love Eurovision and so glad its Live this year. I’ve got the alarm clock set for Sunday morning already. I’m hoping for a top 10 result for us but it will be interesting to see how Europe votes. We are being embraced but there is a lot of “What is Australia doing there?” stuff out there.

Masterchef is going great guns. The challenges this year are back to what they used to be.

  8. Love knowing that there are so many other Eurovision tragics excited enough to get up so early in the morning! Looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow 🙂
