15 Comments:

  1. Channel Ten must be pleased with 6 shows in the top 20.
    Finally!! Well done.
How can Channel 7 claim itself to be Australia’s No 1 news, They were 100,000 behind in Melbourne,
close to 30,000 behind in Sydney and Brisbane and only won Adelaide and Perth because the alternative has no appeal to viewers.

  2. Thursday night is just a wasteland. Seriously, other than Dirty Laundry Live (and thank god for that!!) there is not a lot. The Footy Show is just looking so tired… The only people I know who watch it are the teenagers I teach – yet it’s taking up so much time!!

  3. I enjoyed redesign my brain. David excuse my silly question but why is multi channels ratings from 0200 to 2600 ie full day but other top 20 primetime ie 18 to 2400 I’m sure if it was primetime it would be better than seeing how high peppa pigs ratings are?

  4. Also, correct me if I am wrong (and I know the TV landscape has changed a lot in the past 20 years) but I was sure when I was a teenager back in the 90’s and I used to read the Green Guide ratings report, stuff like ‘Friends’ was scoring almost 1M viewers in Melbourne alone, right?

Additionally, does anyone else remember back in the 90s (not sure what year) when Ch7 allowed the public to pick the programs they were going to broadcast for the night? There was two choices for each time slot, with one of the choice being the ‘lost’ Friends episode that Ch 7 still had to broadcast that was stopping Ch9 from broadcasting season 2? I distinctly remember Ch 9 began broadcasting Season 2 almost immediately from that point on as Australia was about 2 seasons behind

      • And how many times do we have to tell these people who quote old ratings figures.
Hello – there are many more channels available now, more choice – so 1 million is a terrific figure.

Sport that is not on Pay TVas well is an exception like SOOG’s.

    • I thought i was the only one who remembered that. It was 7’s “Interactive Television” night, i waited up till almost midnight just to see the lost ep of Friends (Where Ross’ son Ben was born- a pretty important episode mind you). To my recollection, it was 1996/97….

    • It was in the summer of 96/97 and seven screened the second last ep of season 1 on a Saturday night at midnight having screened the season 1 finale weeks before. Two things about it, channel seven said it was going to the future of programming with viewers chosing shows via “interactive television” and have never done it seen and also channel 9 couldn’t show repeats of season 1 until Channel 7 had completed screening the entire season and then channel 7 claimed it was doing viewers a favour as it made 9 have to the start of season 2 over the summer non-ratings period.

  5. Seems like Masterchef has thrown a real spanner in the works here for the last few weeks

The other story is that complete switch off of TV by almost everyone from 8.30PM onwards – with the exception of The Footy Show. Alarm bells should have been ringing a long time ago to try and work this out
