SBS will showcase the best of Australia’s undiscovered comedy talent in the 2015 RAW Comedy National Grand Final, hosted by Adam Hills.

This took place in Melbourne in mid-April.

For these newbies, being crowned this year’s RAW Comedy champion results in a fast-track to the Edinburgh Fringe where they’ll be catapulted into the international spotlight.

Each finalist has already risen through the ranks of their respective state and territory RAW Comedy competitions. This means they’ve been “trialled by fire “and honed their material where it counts – in front of a live audience.

The likes of Josh Thomas, Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng and Celia Pacquola have all launched their careers after conquering RAW Comedy. What greatness will be uncovered this year?

Sunday, 14 June at 8.30pm on SBS 2.

      1. Friends and family in Europe pestered me with messages of “please take him back!” Hills apparently failed to realise that using his undoubted comedy talent as a ‘Trojan Horse’ for his political views and rants was going to alienate a considerable section of the audience. Just because people laughed at his jokes, it didn’t necessarily mean that they empathised with his political views. Hills is like an inverse of Bill Shorten; people can respect and relate to Bill’s political stance because that’s his job, but by god do they cringe when he tries to be funny! Zinger!

        1. Or they failed to realise he found his own audience. Edinburgh sell outs, repeat TV seasons and award nods would suggest that’s a more likely scenario. Comedy is subjective. We don’t all laugh at the same thing.
