Season 4 of The Voice begins Sunday week on Nine.

Nine has confirmed the launch date for The Voice as Sunday, June 28th followed by Monday and Tuesday editions thereafter.

This year’s coaches Jessie J, Delta Goodrem, Ricky Martin, Benji & Joel Madden are joined by dual hosts, Darren McMullen and Sonia Kruger.

Nine is also tweaking the format, with fewer team spots up for grabs, no Showdowns (introduced in S2) and no guarantee that each Coach will have an act in the Grand Final.

The winner will receive a recording contract with Universal Music Australia, $100,000 cash and a new car.

New Coach Jessie J is one of the UK’s biggest pop exports, with more than 15 million record sales and number one songs in 19 countries. And after their double turn on The Voice Kids last year, Joel Madden is bringing brother Benji with him, hoping that two Coaches are better than one to secure a win for Team Madden on The Voice 2015.

With new faces and exciting changes to the format of The Voice, the stakes have been raised this season. There will be fewer spots available on each team, so the battle to get the Coaches to hit their buttons will intensify.

And for the first time, each Coach’s team will NOT be guaranteed a spot in the Grand Finale – making the competition for the best artists hotter than ever.

The three thrilling stages of The Voice start with the Blind Auditions where, with their backs to the stage, the Coaches must hit their buttons based solely on the artist’s voice. The Coaches will select 12 artists for their teams during the Blind Auditions.

Once the teams are set, it’s on to the Battle Rounds where the Coaches will pair their own artists against each other, choosing the strongest ones to advance to the next stage of the competition. At the end of the Battle Rounds each Coach will be left with eight artists. The Coaches will then award their two strongest voices a “fast pass”, sending them straight through to the Live Shows.

The six remaining artists per team will then perform in a three-way contest in the new Super Battle: last-chance contests where one from each trio goes through to the Live Shows, when the all-important viewer vote comes into play. This produces the Top 16 finalists, who will compete week-to-week to be crowned the winner in the Grand Finale.

Sunday June 28, Monday, June 29, and Tuesday, June 30 on Nine.

  1. Not a fan of The Voice, some of the judges think more about themselves, and how good am I, rather than the contestants, which after all it should be all about the contestants, and as I am not a fan of some of the judges anyway its an excuse not to watch, much prefer the X Factor.

  2. Especially glad about the no guaranteed performer for each mentor in the grand final change. I always hated seeing great acts from really quality teams discarded while the people from the weaker teams stuck around.

  3. These sound like smart changes. The show always felt like it dragged on and on and then all of a sudden it was over within a couple of weeks once the live shows kicked off.
