  1. So after high quality HD broadcast for the last few Ashes, we now get this low bitrate, low resolution garbage? Awesome
    What’s different about July 17 and 18?

    1. Low bitrate, low resolution? Where are you getting that from? GEM is HD last time I checked. SD or HD shouldn’t matter that much, content is key not picture quality. It wasn’t that long ago people were the Ashes in analog.

      1. Just to let you know that the Liverpool v Brisbane Roar will be televised on that day but I am pretty sure that this soccer match will be live on Go Channel.

    1. Totally agree Dr_Rudi, but I haven’t watched cricket on nine since the Indians played us at the Gabba, about 3 or 4 years ago, too much chat, far too much

    2. Agree. I don’t understand the fascination of the various broadcasters in hiring ex players to perform a role they are not trained to do or have the skill for. If there was an option to listen to the game without any commentary for a fee, I’d gladly pay the fee! That goes for the AFL too.

  2. It would have been good if 9 offered an online streaming option (not sure if they have the online rights) of the ashes just like 7 are offering for the tennis at Wimbledon at the moment.

    1. @tvf: the streaming option is available via Cricket Australia app and website, but you need to buy a Live Pass from the CA website (via the link on the top right corner of the homepage). It costs $4.99 for a day pass or $29.99 for a 365 pass.

      1. Had a quick look at the live pass and its appears only offer a streaming service for matches that are already available on free to air. I’m not sure I like the idea of having to pay for streaming of matches that are already available on free to air when say 7 offers live streaming for free for Wimbledon and Australian Open tennis. I didn’t find the cricket Australia website that user friendly when trying to find information on items such as radio coverage of the ashes. Is there is any radio coverage of the ashes in Australia? Its also a shame that cricket australia doesn’t support windows phone with an app.
