  1. Again confirming my theory that all Oz TV is written by the same two dozen people.

The industry’s in trouble when Gallipoli gets a nomination. Why didn’t Catching Milat get a nod? It was much more entertaining that either Gallipoli or The Secret River.

    1. With respect it actually shoots down your theory. I count over 40 different names, with only 4 named twice. Which is a ratio that could be similarly applied to actors, directors, cinematographers etc.

The AWGIES are unique in that the writer must be a member of the AWG and submit their work. It is based on the script, not the finished television episode (hence some projects are included that haven’t even hit the screen yet). Catching Milat was also written under a nom de plume, so that possibly affected its eligibility. Hope this has shed some light for you.

      1. Thanks. I know how the AWGIES work. My tongue was slightly in my cheek when I made my original comment. But there is some truth to what I said. Don’t you get the feeling you’re watching the same actors in the same shows all the time, with the same cliched plots and lame dialogue? A big part of that is the lack of diversity at the writing level.
