Bones, Sleepy Hollow planning crossover event

A crossover event is in the works for Bones & Sleepy Hollow -but don't hold your breath for Australia.

FOX is planning to stage a crossover event between Bones and Sleepy Hollow in their upcoming seasons.

TVLine reports specific details surrounding the crossover, including which characters would appear in each episode, are not being disclosed at this time but both shows have an inventive idea in place that organically merges their vastly different universes. Guessing they dig up a headless victim?

Unfortunately these kinds of crossovers rarely pan out in Australia due to shows airing on different networks and even at differing times of the year. Bones is a Seven property but Sleepy Hollow airs on ELEVEN.

One rare case recently was a Flash / Arrow cross-over on FOX8 after Nine allowed an Arrow episode to debut on Foxtel before its own playout. Alas Free to Air viewers didn’t get to see the Flash episode in as a pay-off.

  1. who else remembers when community and cougartown had a crossover, CT was in a graveyard slot on 7 and over a year behind, community was also over a year behind and jerked all over GO! with multiple eps a week in very strange timeslots. yet both episodes parts of the crossover aired within 1 day of each other. it was a TV miracle.

  2. This makes no sense whatsoever-Bones has no supernatural elements (even if much of the science is pretty fanciful) but Sleepy Hollow is entirely based in a fantasy magical universe-what next?-Supernatural meets The Good Wife?

    1. Bones was an anti-supernatural show. Though they did an episode with a psychic being real recently.

Definitely a networking trying to prop up two failing shows with a gimmick than an interesting creative idea.

    2. There was a Voodoo episode In Bones Season 1 called The Man In The Morgue, that was set in New Orleans just after Hurricane Katrina, at the end of that episode back in D.C. “Brennan and Booth tell Angela, Zack, and Hodgins about their case in New Orleans. They debate whether voodoo is real. Brennan is adamant that it’s not, but can’t explain her amnesia, or why her blood tests didn’t reveal that she was drugged.”

So that was left with no scientific explanation as to what happened, perhaps there may be a Voodoo element come up in Sleepy Hollow that Bones could cross-over into.

  3. It brings up the question of what would make a good crossover of two different properties. I kinda wish they would do a crossover of Granchester and Father Brown.

  4. This got me thinking about the JAG / NCIS crossover a long time ago. Crossovers are good when done properly. That crossover is why I gave NCIS a try way back then. JAG was a great show, shame it was treated very poorly by 7 way back then. No surprises things haven’t changed.

Can’t see 7 or any other commercial free to air network caring about crossovers when their main priority is reality.

    1. NCIS was a spin-off of JAG so that’s quite different. As with most spin-offs these days, the pilot for the new show is an episode of the current show. NCIS:LA, NCIS:New Orleans, CSI:Cyber, Criminal Minds:Suspect Behaviour are examples of this format.

  5. I recall Seven were good with playing the Crossing Jordan and Las Vegas crossovers (I think there were at least 2), but it helps when the network has both shows.

FOX8 air both Bones and Sleepy Hollow so the crossover could play out there.
