Family Feud host Grant Denyer is driving in the Australian GT Championship, a support category of the V8 Supercar Townsville 400 Street Race this weekend.

Grant will drive the same Maranello Motorsport Ferrari previously driven by Craig Lowndes during his 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour race win. Sharing driving duties with Grant will be V8 Supercar regular Tony D’Alberto. The two teamed up recently to finish third in the GT Championship three hour endurance race at Phillip Island, and are hoping for another podium result this weekend.

The Just Cuts Ferrari 458 GT3 is a specially prepared race car, and will compete against Lamborghini, Audi, Aston Martin, Mercedes Benz, McLaren and other exotic sports cars in two races, each one hour long during this weekend’s Townsville 400. Each team will have a compulsory pit stop and driver change mid race.

Airs live on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, from 12.00pm AEST on TEN

  1. I can tell you that the broadcast on Ten is not live. I’m watching on Foxtel but out of interest I turned the TV on to 10 at about 12:20 AEST. While Denyer was racing to an eventual second-place in the Aus GT race Ten had about 5 mins of ads, then Matt White dribbling on about something followed by Larko and McConville waffling on about Formula 4. I don’t know if they even showed the GT race.

A quick check later during qualifying for the V8s showed that Ten isn’t even showing that live.

  2. Denyer’s actually a pretty good driver, having spent 15 years on and off racing in various production & V8 classes – including various track & rally series, winning one or two Rookie of the Year awards, and competing a couple of times in both production & V8 endurance races (including driving for DJR at Sandown and Bathurst). He was certainly good enough to have at least become a regular second driver in almost any team.
