Nine Perth boss David Mott is said to be in the running for the role of ITV Studios Australia Managing Director, following the exit of Anita Jacoby, as first reported by TV Tonight.
The role would see the former TEN Programming Chief return from Perth to Sydney, a move which is understood to have always been on the cards for the right role.
The Australian Financial Review reports Nine Entertainment CEO David Gyngell has given his blessing to pursue discussions with ITV.
His name was also touted when observers were speculating who would head up the merged Endemol Shine Australia, ahead of Carl and Mark Fennessy’s appointment.
Running the ITV would see Mott directly negotiating with network programmers, including Nine’s Michael Healy (he is currently part of the Programming team) and TEN’s Beverley McGarvey, with whom he worked for several years at TEN.
Mott led the programming for some of TEN’s brand-defining shows including Big Brother, Australian Idol, MasterChef, Offspring, Talkin’ ’bout Your Generation, The Biggest Loser, The Panel and Rove Live.
He was appointed managing director of Nine Perth in September 2013.

9 would be sad to see him go if he chooses to
Indeed he is. Shine I understood. ITVS – not so much.
Surely there’s room at a broadcaster for one of the great innovators? What about Foxtel?
He is with a broadcaster? Nine.
