Australia’s car-crash performance in the Ashes Fourth Test drew bumper numbers last night, averaging 848,000 viewers in Session 1 (S2: 348,000).

That figure was the second-highest multichannel audience of all time, and at 14.7% was the second-highest multichannel share of all time (both pipped by 2013 numbers of 858,000 / 15%).

GEM’s share was greater than TEN’s primary channel and all of ABC combined.

But the match was such a disaster that over on Dirty Laundry Live they were recommending Nine dust off a VHS copy of The Shawshank Redemption.

Meanwhile Restaurant Revolution slipped yet again for Seven while Glitch drops for ABC.

Nine network won with 36.1% then Seven 24.0%, TEN 19.1%, ABC 14.5% and SBS 6.3%.

  1. Stayed up and saw the tail end of the dreadful Zoo on Ten. Was awful. Was very happy last week to learn that Svu was back on, had a new episode last week and ten did advertise this week as being new but once it started last night it was an ancient episode when Chris Meloni as Elliott was still in it. I wish ten would go back to putting the new ones on at 830

  2. Ok I watched the 2 hour epic hat was Restaurant Revolution and it was extremely aweful. Its biggest problem is the entire format, closely followed by the bizarre live cross to the Central Coat Cupboard manned by an uncharismatic bearded chap.

I also hated all of the contestants and most of the judges.

Just take the damn thing off air. That’s 2 hours of my life I shall never get back again.

Bring on the hilarious cats I say!

  3. Clearly Dirty Laundry Live understand neither cricket nor the TV audience. Cricket, on Nine’s 3rd channel outrated their show on ABC’s main channel greater than threefold. They are probably so unaware of their own ignorance that they will still insist the reverse must be true.

    1. Am I missing something here? I took their comments to mean Nine might not have enough stand-by programming to cover what could be a very significantly early finish to the cricket. Which suggests they do know something…

  4. Why would people bother watching Restaurant Revolution without knowing for sure that Ch7 wont just axe it? Ch7 are being their own nightmare here, people just wont invest their time if they are not sure if it will see the series out….
