Minor Spoiler:

Survivor always finds ways to shake up its gameplay and the next season, Survivor: Cambodia “Second Chance” will add new twists to its hidden immunity idols.

Host Jeff Probst told EW, “The first thing we’re doing with the idols is we’re making idols look different, so every idol will be unique.

“One idol will look really fancy and the next idol will look like a 5-year-old made it. So when you get an idol, you’re going to have to convince somebody it’s real because they’re going to think it isn’t. But that also opens a door to make a fake idol … and they won’t know which is up and which is down. You can play all angles on this.”

Another change will see the idol immersed into the middle of a challenge.

“Day 1, they start building their shelter, you know people are going to start looking for an idol,” Probst continued. “They’re going to find it in a tree or under a trunk — whatever. But it will be a clue and the clue will say, ‘Good news, the idol is within reach. You just have to be daring enough to grab it.’ And we’re going to have a drawing [of the challenge]. You will know exactly where it is. There is no search. The only question is, can you do it in front of your tribe in the middle of a challenge and get away with it? I love that.”

The new season, which sees returning players compete for the million dollars, will launch in late September and is expected to be fast-tracked to GO!

  1. Alright, I am really looking forward to this season. I love this idea and can’t wait to see what else they do, I am convinced this is only one of many twists.
I would love an Australian season, but I don’t think the producers here would do it justice. I imagine they would make it into a nightly series.
And then season 32 is going to be another brains v brawn v beauty. As long as the cast is good that should also be a good season too.

    1. Would love an Australian version too – but it would have to be one hour a week like the US version – one of the reasons The Big Adventure failed was because it aired 3 hours a week – I would have stuck with it if it was one hour per week…

      1. I think the main reason TBA failed is because it was stupid format. That said I didn’t mind how they aired it (2 hour long episodes a week with an elimination at the end of every episode)

        1. Yes to you both. I have said before that they need to do a US v Aus season of Survivor.
TBA didn’t really know what it wanted to be, that was the issue.
