It’s official. The Prison Break sequel is on for 10 new episodes.

“It’s going to bring back both brothers, [played by] Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell,” FOX Chairman and CEO Gary Newman announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour today.

CEO Dana Walden added, “I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don’t think [exec producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he’s going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience.

“This is the pure vision of the creator of the show,” Walden continued. “It’s going to take a little bit of a detour from where we left off [with the straight-to-DVD coda], but it should feel very satisfying and event-ised. Fans will be excited about seeing these characters back together again.”

On the question of Michael’s death in previous episodes, Walden added, “What [Paul] pitched to us was a very logical and believable — in the world of Prison Break — explanation for why our characters are alive and still moving around the world.”

Together with Heroes Reborn it’s like 2006 all over again!

  1. Loved this back in the day. Season 1 was brilliant, season 2 great, season 3 disastrous due to the writer’s strike and this impacted on the final season. It will be interesting to see what they produce.

In other words… **not** so logical and believable in the real world 😉

Still, I am a fan and will be interested to see how they go.

  3. Loved it back in the day, mind you these 2 have been on everything including The Flash and now the new Legends, it might be hard to watch them go back. As its produced by Fox i am thinking it will end up either on Foxtel or TEN. Bringing this back and bringing Heroes back is two different things. Will be interesting to see where they take it. I will probably watch for curiosity factor.

    1. actually 7 no longer have the rights, it was a FOX show which 10 have so they’ll be airing it on either Ten or One. like 24 Seven also owned that but Ten got 24 so that’s why they aired Live Another Day.
