Flying by their seat of their pants, a relieved Sunrise team made it onto air this morning at Rockefeller Center. Just.

They very nearly didn’t make it after their British Airways flight from London was delayed by 3 hours, but this morning Sunrise managed to make it on air from Rockefeller Center in New York,
With around 2.5hrs between landing and being on air, the team did their make-up aboard the flight before dashing to NBC studios, home of NBC’s Today show and 30 Rock.
Guests included Ed Sheeran and Jamie Lawson (in Minnesota), and showbiz reporter Nelson Aspen with Edwina Bartholomew in San Francisco and Hamish McLachlan in Kentucky.
So far Sunrise‘s two international broadcasts have drawn excellent numbers at around 400,000 a show.
Next stop is Niagara Falls -a much closer destination should flights be delayed once again.

Darnit – I really woulda loved to have watched this one but we were tired and slept in till 9am. Would’ve been fantastic for the team to broadcast from the home of NBC Today.
While they are swanning round the world Today& he ABC were reporting from Canberra on the leadership spill. If I want news then Sunrise is not an option.
That clearly wasn’t the assessment others made. Sunrise matched the coverage.
Sunrise won the ratings.
So they are never allowed to go on location, just in case a major news event happens?
I asked about recent OBs and was advised MH17 anniversary, and Gallipoli anniversary. I think also Canberra this week and bushfire centres.
