Gold Coast cop facing assault charge

A Gold Coast police officer is facing four charges of assault for allegedly bashing restrained prisoners.

A police officer who appeared in TEN’s Gold Coast Cops is facing four charges of assault for allegedly bashing restrained prisoners.

Senior Constable Aaron Minns, who was part of the Rapid Action Policing squad, was officially suspended yesterday after being stood down on March 2nd.

Nine News reports it was alleged he left a prisoner with broken ribs. Footage filmed on body cameras has been referred to the Ethical Standards Command.

He has been suspended and will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 14.

An internal review of Gold Coast police culture announced on August 28 is underway.
